It remains a mystery how Grandma disappeared without a trace during a camping trip.
Anne Marie Jeffery, 73, disappeared around 9am on August 25, 2020, while making a short walk to public toilets at the Lake Arragan campsite, north of Brooms Head on the New South Wales north coast.
Her husband and friends who were on the road alerted the emergency services. The emergency services searched for the grandmother for the next three days, but found no trace of her.
The search involved SES, RFS, National Parks and Wildlife and local volunteers.
Four years later, police are again appealing for information to help us find out how and why she disappeared.
Ms Jeffery’s disappearance was ‘sudden and devastating to her family, friends and community.’
“Anne was by all accounts a wonderful person who enjoyed camping with her loved ones, which made her disappearance all the more poignant,” Detective Inspector Ritchie Sim said.
He hopes the renewed public appeal will “bring back memories for those who were in the area.”
Police have again appealed for information about grandmother Anne Marie Jeffery (pictured) who disappeared in Lake Arragan, NSW in August 2020
“The information you have may be missing a piece of the puzzle that could help detectives find Anne,” Detective Sim said.
‘Sadly, every year people go missing in the bush in New South Wales and I want to remind people to look out for each other when they go camping or bush walking.’
An investigation into her disappearance last year revealed that Ms Jeffrey likely died on or in the days after August 25, the date she disappeared.
“Her place of death is somewhere in the vicinity of the Lake Arragan and Red Cliff Campgrounds near Brooms Head NSW,” the coroner said in his 15-page report.
“I can’t determine whether she died on land or in the water.”
Mrs Jeffery disappeared while walking to the toilets and no trace of her could be found during three days of searching by police and emergency services
Ms. Jeffrey is described as a white woman with a slim build and gray hair.
She was last seen wearing a red and pink top, wool leggings, red shoes and a hat.
