Prince Henry is a spare grandson of the King of England, played by Stephen Fry, while Alex is the son of the US President, played by Uma Thurman.

The two leading men initially despise each other, but a royal wedding forces them together for a round of media appearances.

While forced to spend time together, the couple discovers their feelings for each other and begins a private romance.

Their affair is complicated by the fact that the social expectations of being part of the British royal family prevent Henry from going public with Alex.

“Besides the great love story, I think what interests me as an actor in general are people who are completely trapped by circumstances and upbringing,” Nicholas thought. Out while promoting the film last year.

‘I always like characters who have to escape the limits of their upbringing in some way. It was a lot of fun,” added Nicholas, who himself is from England.

Red, White & Royal Blue is based on the 2019 novel of the same name by Casey McQuiston, who is working on the script for the sequel with Matthew Lopez.

The next film will consist of newly invented material, as the book ends at the same basic point as the original film.
