Anne Hathaway was overcome with emotion as fans showed their support for her new rom-com, which stars her opposite Nicholas Galitzine.
The world premiere of The Idea Of You took place on Saturday at SXSW at The Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas.
It centers on art gallery worker and single mother Sophie, played by Anne, 41, who falls in love with a young, handsome musician, played by Nicholas, 29.
During the Q&A after the screening, Anne became emotional when she said that coming-of-age stories do not have to focus exclusively on young people.
“We talk about coming-of-age stories as something that happens to you in the earliest part of your life, and I don’t know about you, but I feel like I continue to blossom,” she told her adoring fans .

Anne got choked up as fans cheered her on during the Q&A. “I can’t talk,” she said, her voice breaking.
A fan shouted “I love you,” to which Anne replied, “I love you so much.”
“You have no idea what a gift you have just given us with your responsiveness, because you are so connected to every little nuance in this. I will never forget this performance.’
Anne added: “When Cathy (Schulman) and Gabrielle (Union) so generously offered me the role, I was thrilled to say yes.”

Divorced Sophie, 40, falls in love with boy band member Hayes Campbell, 24, when they have a chance encounter at the Coachella music festival in the desert.
She feels intimidated by the younger and very famous singer and says she is ‘too old’ for him, but he doesn’t care and pursues her.
Sophie then gets caught up in the fame machine when photos of them making out on a beach are leaked and she has to deal with being the ‘girlfriend’ of a famous man.

Speaking at Saturday’s screening, Bottoms star Nicholas said of his and Anne’s chemistry lectures ahead of his casting: ‘These rooms can be extremely intimidating and unnatural, but there was something almost spiritual happening there that made me feel an instant connection with Annie.
‘We had a simpatico, a shared sense of humor. It was just very easy. I remember leaving the room and thinking, “Whatever happens to it, I’m so proud of this special thing that happened there.” They called me the next day: ‘We want you to be part of this movie.’
The Prime Video film adaptation of the popular romance book inspired by Harry Styles, The Idea Of You. The release date is March 16, 2024.
The film is directed by Michael Showalter, who previously directed The Eyes Of Tammy Faye and The Big Sick.
Jennifer Westfeldt, who starred in Friends With Kids, Kissing Jessica Stein and more, has written the script and will also serve as executive producer.
The Idea Of You is produced by Anne, Cathy Schulman, Gabrielle Union, Kian Gass, Eric Hayes, Jordana Mollick and the book’s author, Robinne Lee. Production started in October 2022.
The book, released in 2017, was called a “sleeper hit” by The New York Times Fashion and sales have increased every year since its release.
Robinne said the idea came to her during a late-night search on YouTube when she came across Harry Styles.

“A few years ago my husband was on a business trip and I was up late surfing music videos on YouTube when I came across the face of a guy I’d never seen in a band I’d never paid attention to, and it was so aesthetically perfect that it took me by surprise. It was like… art,” she said in 2017 interview with blogger Deborah Kalb.
“I spent a good hour googling trying to figure out who this guy was, and in the process I discovered that he often dated older women, and that’s how the seed was planted.”
“This should never have been a book about Harry Styles,” Robinne told the fashion magazine in 2020.
“It was supposed to be a story about a woman approaching her 40s reclaiming her sexuality and rediscovering herself, just at the point where society traditionally writes off women as desirable, viable and whole.”
While Styles may have sparked the book idea, Robinne used multiple sources to build Hayes.
“Inspired is a strong word,” Lee said after being asked if Harry was the inspiration behind the book.
