- Coronal investigation started
A coroner is investigating the death of a grandmother after she died three days after surgery at the hands of Annastacia Palaszczuk’s partner.
Rosemarie Campbell, 62, underwent gastric bypass surgery at Brisbane’s Wesley Hospital on February 24, 2022.
She was operated on by Dr Reza Adib, a top surgeon specializing in laparoscopic, gastrointestinal and obesity surgery who began dating the Premier of Queensland in 2021.
Mrs Campbell died three days later with a preliminary report that surgery was completed and infection were among the four contributing factors to her death.
The state coroner has now launched an investigation into the case.
Daily Mail Australia does not suggest that Dr Adib was negligent during the operation.

Ms Campbell was released from hospital two days after surgery before collapsing and dying a day later on 27 February last year.
Together with her husband, she had prepared to enjoy her retirement.
Her daughter-in-law Jodie Hicks claimed the couple had been working on their dream home.
“For the past few years, she’s worked and worked so they could build this house,” she said.
“She wanted this big family house to have her whole family there.”
Her family is considering legal action as they demand answers to her unexpected death, Gold Coast Bulletin reported.
Ms Campbell’s family claims their mother vomited water and food two days after surgery.
They claim she received an injection before being discharged with medication.
Ms Hicks claimed that Ms Campbell felt she had been ‘hit by a bus’ the day after her surgery.
“She didn’t have the energy to get out of bed that morning,” she said.
A preliminary report from a pathologist found four factors contributed to Ms Campbell’s death.
Sepsis, an acute bacterial infection, pneumonia and gastric bypass surgery.
The findings were detailed in a letter sent to Ms Campbell’s son, Robert Hicks, on August 3, 2022.
She was operated on by Dr Reza Adib, a top surgeon specializing in laparoscopic, gastrointestinal and obesity surgery who began dating the Premier of Queensland in 2021.
Bureau Coronial Services then sent a follow-up letter to the family on January 12, 2023.
They asked whether Ms. Campbell had had any difficulty swallowing or pain prior to surgery.
Daily Mail Australia contacted Dr. Adib for comment.
Lawyers for the surgeon said they could not comment on the case.
‘Dr. Adib cannot comment while the matter is being investigated by the Coroner’s Court of Queensland,” they said.
Daily Mail Australia contacted The Wesley Hospital for comment.
A spokesperson said the hospital could not comment because the corona investigation was still ongoing.
