Anna Wintour to perform joint exhibition with Edward Enninful on the red carpet after reports of a ‘power struggle’ between editors as she signs the stars for her Vogue World Show

Dame Anna Wintour gathered some of the biggest names in show business for the Vogue World Show in London on Thursday.

From supermodels Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington to Hollywood’s Jared Leto and Princess Beatrice and Eugenie, the event, held to raise money for the British performing arts industry, rivaled the iconic Met Gala in New York.

The Vogue editor-in-chief, 73, walked the red carpet British Vogue’s very own editor, Edward Enninful, 51, with the couple seemingly keen to dismiss reports of a power struggle between the two.

The pair put on a united front as they posed for photos together and chatted with presenter AJ Odudu at the Theater Royal Drury Lane.

Anna showed off her fashion status in a floral dress and gold leather trench coat as she hit the red carpet with Enninful and director Baz Luhrmann.

Enninful will be replaced by Londoner Chioma Nnadi as editor of British Vogue.

The Mail on Sunday reported that Enninful had hoped to one day replace Wintour, but the Vogue editor-in-chief is determined to stay put and ‘swat away all rivals like a fly’.

The bash comes just three months after the shock announcement that the British-Ghanaian former model and fashion stylist will step down as editor-in-chief of British Vogue after six years at the helm.

When he leaves in early 2024, Enninful will take on a ā€œglobal advisory roleā€ at Vogue, ā€œwith the freedom to take on broader creative projects.ā€

ā€œHe made no secret of the fact that he wanted the big job (global editor-in-chief), but he hit the glass ceiling and he had gone as far as he could,ā€ the Vogue insider explained.

‘He thought he would stay in London for a few years and then move to New York, but he now knows he will never get Anna’s job at CondĆ© Nast.

‘Anna is the undisputed boss. She has defeated many rivals and continues to do so. She could swat him like a fly.ā€

A fashion source put it more bluntly: ā€œI think Edward underestimated her power. When he was appointed editor, he got so much smoke up his ass that he couldn’t see his own pants anymore.’

The event is the brainchild of Vogue’s editor-in-chief, but viewers watching via the YouTube livestream took to social media to admit they were baffled by the ‘bizarre’ show.

The event was only open to the rich and famous, with one ticket costing up to Ā£2,521.70. Outside, a line more than 150 meters long filled with screaming guests snaked its way through London’s West End.

Echoing the splendor of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, guests were invited upon arrival to wrap themselves in a Coach pashmina and enjoy a complimentary tequila from the bar.
