Anna Wintour made a statement as she followed this year’s The Garden of Time theme in an elegant ensemble at the star-studded 2024 MET Gala in New York City on Monday.

The 74-year-old editor-in-chief of Vogue – who recently revealed the Met Gala ‘deadly sin’ she committed – joined other celebrities on the red carpet during anticipated festivities, including model Ashley Graham.

The star dazzled in a white dress with a hem that fell past her ankles and white floral embroidery throughout the material.

Wintour paired the look with a long, black coat that buttoned at the front and featured colorful floral details with shades of red, yellow, orange and green.

She completed her evening outfit with a chunky silver necklace with rhinestone details that sparkled under the bright lights.

Anna also added a large, silver brooch to the left side of her coat, which also had glittering, flower-shaped details.

The media executive donned a pair of white open-toed pumps to match the color scheme of her dress.

Wintour’s short locks were parted in the middle and swept down so they almost touched the tops of her shoulders, while her bangs fell gently on her forehead.

Her makeup was done classically and consisted of a coat of mascara on her eyelashes and a light, shimmering shadow around her eyes.

A warm blush was applied to her cheekbones for a radiant glow, while a satin, rosy pink shade was worn on her lips for a finishing touch.

Anna – who has emceed the annual gala since 1995 – flashed a cheerful smile as she showed off her ensemble on the red carpet, which was lined with greenery and white flowers.

The star-studded festivities take place annually at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on the first Monday in May, with numerous celebrities invited to the big night.

During the interview, the British-born editor revealed the ‘cardinal sin’ she committed regarding this year’s Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion exhibition – which caused some ‘confusion’.

“This exhibit broke my cardinal rule, Jenna. When we came up with the title Sleeping Beauties, it’s beautiful, poetic and romantic, but it can actually be many things.’

Notably, Anna joined forces with Andrew Bolton, the curator of the MET Costume Institute, to determine Garden of Time’s dress code.

“I’m afraid we’ve caused a lot of confusion, for which I sincerely apologize, but I imagine we’ll see a lot of flowers,” she told Jenna.

She also talked about some of the food items she took off the menu at the event, including onions, chives and garlic. “Well, those are three things I’m not really into, and so yeah, that’s true.”

On the subject of the gala’s cell phone ban, Wintour explained: ‘It’s often wonderful to hear people say after dinner, “Oh, we had the most wonderful conversations…”‘

“And that’s the idea: life can exist without a photo on your cell phone,” the star further added.

Jenna also revealed Anna’s rather cryptic response to being asked if Taylor Swift will be in attendance – although rumor has it she won’t due to time conflicts with her Eras Tour, which resumes in France on May 9.

“I had to ask too, because Mila Hager asked if Taylor would be there, and she (Anna) said, ‘I hope she comes and enjoys the exhibit,’” she said, referring to her daughter.
