Anna Nicole Smith reveals she is ‘living proof’ that dreams come true in Netflix documentary trailer

Netflix has released a first glimpse of their new documentary, Anna Nicole Smith: You Don’t Know Me, which debuted on the streaming platform on Tuesday.

On the morning of its release, Lara Spencer shared a preview to the Good Morning America viewers of the film directed by Ursula Macfarlane.

In an interview with ABC’s popular morning talk show, the award-winning filmmaker told viewers that Smith “took on the press” during her lifetime and was “harassed by the press on the media for what she wanted.”

While reflecting on what she hopes people think of the program, Macfarlane shared, “Okay yes, she had some flaws, but she was human.” A person with multiple meanings.’

As for the former model, footage released of her before her death, at the age of 39, in 2007, Smith encouraged others to view her as “living proof” that dreams do come true.

A friend, who appeared in the documentary, then recalled how Smith “brought a record” to Hollywood that read “Marilyn Monroe singing Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend.”

Last year, Macfarlane revealed in a statement: “I approached Anna Nicole’s story as an epic mystery story. How did someone with so much charisma and breathtaking beauty, with the world at her feet, fall so far and so fast?’

“This feels like the right time to revisit the life of yet another beautiful young woman whose life has been taken over and ultimately destroyed by our culture,” she added.

Her statement concluded, “I am thrilled to be working with Netflix and Propagate to create a moving, unflinching, and sensitive portrait of one of the most misunderstood women of our time.”

Born Vickie Lynn Hogan, Smith married 89-year-old oil magnate J. Howard Marshall II in 1994 after meeting him while performing at a strip club.

The Houston native shot to fame as a Guess model and was Playboy’s 1993 Playmate of the Year.

She later starred in her own E! reality series The Anna Nicole Show.

Smith was survived by her daughter Dannielynn Birkhead, 16.

Proud of her achievements: As for the former model, footage released of her before her death, at the age of 39, in 2007, Smith encouraged others to view her as “living proof” that dreams do come true

Her son Daniel died of an accidental drug overdose in the Bahamas in September 2006 at the age of 20, just three days after Dannielynn was born.

Larry Birkhead, 48, filed a paternity suit after Dannielynn’s birth and a DNA test confirmed he was her father.

This month, Birkhead elucidated the most intimate aspects of the late model’s life in an upcoming documentary featuring her “explosive” personal diaries and never-before-seen home videos.

Larry, 50, spoke exclusively to DailyMail.com about their four-year roller-coaster relationship that led to Anna’s tragic death — providing shocking and intimate details never shared before.

Larry first met Anna 20 years ago, in 2003. “She blew me kisses and I was intrigued by her, nothing came out. However, the second year I saw her at the Kentucky Derby gala was magical,” he said.

Three months after their fateful meeting at the derby, Anna asked Larry to leave his home in Kentucky to move in with her at her home in Los Angeles. He agreed and the couple lived together for two and a half years – until she moved to the Bahamas when she was five months pregnant with their daughter Dannielynn.
