There comes a time in everyone’s life when you just want more power—specifically, more places to plug in your phone, laptop, and other gadgets without having to hunt down a bunch of wall outlets. Say hello to a quartet of Anker Prime chargers.
These four chargers are designed for both desktop situations, where one needs a hub full of ports to charge a bunch of gadgets, and mobile docking stations, which offer a selection of USB ports and the ability to deliver 100 watts of power to charge all but the most demanding devices.
And the icing on the cake is a new durable USB-C cable which can withstand 300,000 bending cycles, despite being made from recycled materials and ultra-fine copper wires.
Let’s take a look at the range.
The front runner is the $249 / £199 (no Australian pricing announced yet) Anker Prime 160W Charging StationAs the name suggests, it offers a combined 160 watts of charging power and an array of 14 ports, including three USB slots for charging, six USBs for data transfer, a Gigabit Ethernet port, a fully functional upstream port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a pair of HDMI ports capable of outputting 4K resolution at 60Hz.
On top of all this, there is an LCD screen that can display real-time system information. This could be all you need for an all-in-one docking station, with the only exception being that there is no SD card reader.
The next one is the $169 / £169 Anker Prime 250W GANPrime Charging Station – that’s a mouthful, but translated it’s a gallium nitride charging station that delivers a whopping 250 watts, has four USB-C and two USB-A ports and an LCD screen operated by a “dial” to provide charging information and control power distribution.
The $79 / £79 Anker Prime 200W GaN Charging Station takes the above and crams it into a compact charging hub with four USB-C and two USB-A ports, while also ditching the screen.
Finally, for people who travel a lot, there is the Anker Prime 100W GaN Charger is an updated version of the previous Prime charger. It features gallium nitride technology and the Anker Active Shield 2.0, and according to the brand, it’s one of the smallest 100W chargers in the world. Plug it into a wall socket and you’ll get a pair of USB-C ports and a single USB-A port to charge a trio of devices in an $84/£69 charger.
So, all in all, that’s a solid selection of chargers to cover all sorts of charging needs, whether it’s mobile or desktop-based. They’re available to buy today from Anker and Amazon.
