Angus Cloud’s mom Lisa shares her late son’s first Euphoria audition video: ‘It really captures my son’s extraordinary spirit’

While the late actor Angus Cloud is still remembered by fans around the world, his mother Lisa shared her son’s first audition tape for Euphoria.

The Oakland native was just 25 years old when he passed away in late July, and he was working as a waiter in Brooklyn just six years earlier when he was discovered by casting director Jennifer Venditti.

Lisa – who revealed last week that she thinks her son’s overdose was an accident – took to Facebook earlier this week and shared a link to a casting website featuring a video shot when Cloud was just 19 years old in 2017, two years before Euphoria debuted.

“This was just sent to me by Jennifer Venditti who scouted Angus in Brooklyn. It’s his first tape,’ Lisa said in the post.

“After this was seen by the makers of Euphoria, he was asked to read for Fezco. It really captures my son’s extraordinary spirit,” she added.

The video is over six minutes long and begins with the actor asking him to describe himself, replying that he’s “goofy” and he’ll “do what’s in front of you.”

He said, “we call it pepping, when you just do random spontaneous activities, so we just leave the house behind and just find a bunch of fun things to do.”

When asked what kind of music he listens to, he said, “I like all good music, whatever pleases my ears, but I mostly listen to hip-hop.” I’m not exactly sure why, it just sounds the best to me.’

Then he was asked who some of his favorite artists were, and he named his friends, Slim Luciano, King Heem and Cherokee.

When asked what was the craziest thing he’s ever done, he said that was a “hard one,” but he said he and a friend “jumped over the fences at the San Francisco Zoo, but we ended up in the f *** cage with the kangaroos, like the mini kangaroos you know.’

When asked how that happened, he said, “We didn’t have money for that stuff, you know, so we snuck into Six Flags amusement park.” And then security tried to find us, so we kept going.’

The producer joked that it was a good thing he didn’t jump in the tiger cage, but he added, “At the Oakland Zoo I jumped in the warthog cage, man, that was really sketchy.”

When asked about his friends, he said he hangs out with people who are “up for anything,” and when he started saying he had “a lot of friends,” he stopped himself and said, “that’s irrelevant.”

“A lot of my friends, you just have to know how people behave so you just can’t get mad at them for that. You have friends who might act a certain way, and you don’t like that, but you just have to accept that,” Cloud added.

When asked about the best part of his life, he said, “Just the freedom.” Don’t know. Only the love I have to give and receive, you know what I mean? Everywhere, you know, surrounded by it. Just blessed to be alive, I don’t know what the best part of my life is, just blessed to be alive.”

And for the worst part of his life, Cloud said, ‘S**t, I don’t know! It’s all good here, nothing to complain about.’

When asked what is there in life that he would like to do but hasn’t done yet, Cloud said, “That’s a tough one. What I’m going to do soon, ride freight trains. I’ve always wanted to do that from an early age.’

When asked if he’d rather be rich or famous, he says, “Rich, sure,” adding that he “definitely” believes in true love.

“I personally experienced love, and now I try to close my feelings to other people because I don’t want to get caught up in my feelings,” he said.

‘You can’t help love, if it doesn’t come you can’t say no. You can’t help that, it’s just instinct. That’s how I feel about love,” Cloud said as the first video ended.

Cloud was found unconscious at his family home in Oakland, California, on July 31, and pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.

Just a week earlier, he was in Ireland, where he buried his father, who died of mesothelioma in mid-May aged just 65.

While there were reports that Cloud was battling “suicidal thoughts,” Lisa said she believes her son’s overdose was an accident.

“Friends, I want you all to know that I appreciate your love for my family during this difficult time.

‘I don’t know if or what he put in his body… I just know that he put his head on the desk where he worked on art projects, fell asleep and didn’t wake up.

“We may find out that he accidentally and tragically overdosed, but it’s very clear that he had no intention of leaving this world.”

It added: ‘Social media reports have suggested his death was intentional. I want you to know that’s not the case. To honor his memory, make random acts of kindness part of your daily life.”

“I also want you to know that while my son was deeply saddened by his father’s untimely death from mesothelioma, his last day was a joyous one.”
