Angry Jets star Garrett Wilson hits out on Instagram after LA Rams loss amid trade rumors

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson took to Instagram to respond to critics of his performance in his team’s 19-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

Wilson recorded six receptions for 54 yards as the Jets lost at MetLife Stadium in the playoffs to the chasing Rams, but was targeted just three times in the first 55 minutes. It comes days after reports fueled speculation that he will demand a trade this offseason.

After the game, Wilson cut a frustrated character, telling reporters, “I don’t know, to be honest. I just have to go out there and put my best foot forward and hope things come my way.

“I want to be involved, I want to make an impact on the game, but people see it differently. I have no control over that.’

Garrett took to Instagram after speaking to the media and posted his story seemingly in reference to a five-yard pass he took that ultimately forced him backwards.

He wrote: “You think I’m trying to be cool with that five yard catch???

Absolutely no, I’m trying to take that with me to the crib. Turn it into an explosive. Shake up the whole team/at least do our best. You’ll probably never understand.

“If you’re angry about two meters, just know that that’s why we don’t get along.”

Earlier this week, details about Wilson’s long-term plan began to emerge.

ESPN reporter Rich Cimini has said on his podcast that he thinks the young wide receiver, 24, wants to leave New York this offseason.

“I talk to people around Garrett Wilson. They think – now I want to emphasize that this is speculation on their part – that he will ask for a trade after the season,” Cimini said.

‘Again speculative, by people who know him. We don’t know if that’s a fact.’

The Jets are 4-12 after Sunday’s loss and will face the Buffalo Bills next Sunday before closing out the regular season against the Miami Dolphins.
