Angie Kent reveals her father’s battle with cancer and the shocking reason her family kept the illness from her
Reality TV star Angie Kent opens up about her father Matt’s grueling battle with blood cancer.
The 34-year-old Gogglebox Australia star told this week Stellar Magazine that her parents kept her father’s diagnosis a secret until she came home during the 2020 coronavirus pandemic.
“Mom and Dad had known for a while, but they didn’t tell me until I got home because they know how emotional I am. Seeing someone you always thought was strong go through that was so hard,” she said.
Angie confessed that she became emotional over the reality of the disease, which struck her grandfather when she was just 11.
‘[Dad] “He looked like a skeleton and his hair started falling out in clumps, so he shaved it all off,” she added.
Angie went on to say that her father, who is normally quite independent and likes to work, was not coping well with the illness.
“He hated being in bed 24/7 and became very grumpy. Then the pain got so bad that he couldn’t really talk for a while and just shut down,” she revealed.
But after her father underwent a bone marrow transplant to treat his cancer, Angie said he was “completely recovered.”

“He’s like a cockroach. The way he’s recovered from the bone marrow transplant has blown everyone’s mind… he’s recovered like a champion.”
Angie was a guest on Gogglebox Australia from 2015 to 2018, where the reality show captured her reactions to TV shows, along with her friend Yvie Jones.
The duo would later appear in 2019’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, in which Angie became the tenth celebrity to leave the jungle.
Later that same year, the blonde beauty appeared on the fifth season of the dating show The Bachelorette, where she eventually got into a relationship with influencer Carlin Sterritt.
The couple split in June 2020, less than a year after they started their relationship.

After the breakup, Angie revealed that she is pansexual.
Speaking with The Herald SunThe TV star said that she previously only dated men because society expected it of her.
“I’ve always been pansexual, but I don’t think I’ve ever really talked about it,” she told Confidential.
‘It’s a society thing. I never really got to explore it and now I’m like, “Go for it, girl, go and explore it.”‘
Pansexuality refers to attraction to people regardless of their sex or gender identity.
“I don’t care what you are, as long as we have a connection. Gender isn’t a big deal to me and never has been,” Angie said.
“I’ve always dated men because that’s what was expected of me,” she admitted.
