Angelina Jolie looks chic in a crew neck maxi dress as she goes shopping with son Pax, 19, in New York

Angelina Jolie looked chic as she headed to New York City with her son Pax, 19, on Monday.

The actress, 48, opted for an elegant black maxi dress with a scoop neckline for their shopping trip.

She shielded her eyes with oversized sunglasses and carried a Saint Laurent handbag.

Angelina completed her look with a pair of practical flats for the Upper East Side stroll.

Pax looked just as stylish in a striped long-sleeved top and loose-fitting black trousers.

He completed his outfit with some white Converse and shielded his eyes with round sunglasses.

Angelina shares Pax with ex-husband Brad Pitt along with: Knox, 15, Vivienne and Shiloh, 17, Zahara, 18, and Maddox, 22.

It comes on the heels of news that the star and her daughter Vivienne are joining forces to produce the stage version of SE Hinton’s 1967 classic, The Outsiders.

Born Susan Eloise Hinton, the author wrote most of the hit novel when she was just a teenager in high school in Oklahoma, so it seems coincidental that Vivienne is interested in reviving it.

Angelina and Vivienne met Susan while continuing their venture.

Director Danya Taymor, 34, is the niece of Tony winner and Oscar nominee Julie Taymor, known for bringing the musical The Lion King to the stage.

The theater is known for launching successful shows such as the Tony Award winning Come From Away.

In a statement to Peoplethe proud mom wrote, “Viv reminds me of my mom in that she’s not focused on being the center of attention, but on being a support to other creatives.”

Frances Ford Coppola turned the book into a movie.

The 1983 film helped launch the careers of Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon, Ralph Macchio, Rob Lowe and Diane Lane.

The musical had its world premiere at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego in February.
