Angela Kelly, the late Queen’s hairdresser, is not allowed to share royal secrets by King Charles, sources say
Angela Kelly ‘must sign a gag order’: The late queen’s dresser and confidante should not share royal secrets from King Charles in exchange for a new home in grace and favor in the north, sources say – after being forced out of jail Windsor estate
- It is understood that an aide from the palace handed Angela Kelly a non-disclosure agreement
- This would make it difficult to share royal secrets for future income
- Ms. Kelly has already published two books about her previous royal role
The king has made a deal with the late queen’s dresser that forbids her from sharing royal secrets in exchange for a new life in the north.
Angela Kelly, one of the late Queen’s closest confidants, has been given permission to choose a new home after being forced to leave the Windsor estate.
But The Mail on Sunday understands that a senior Palace aide acting on behalf of the King has offered Ms Kelly a new NDA – non-disclosure agreement – to sign as part of the deal.
A well-placed source called the deal a “gag ban” that would make future earnings based on public revelations about the royal family difficult. The terms of the agreement prohibit Kelly from using the words “King” and “Palace” for commercial purposes.
With the Queen’s blessing, Ms. Kelly has already published two books about her royal role. Obviously, she also had the Queen’s permission to write a third, but the new agreement is sure to affect – if not undermine – that.

Clearly, the King felt an updated version of Ms Kelly’s second book, The Other Side Of The Coin: The Queen, The Dresser And The Wardrobe, strayed ‘too far’ in revealing intimate details about the royal family.
In the reprint, published last year, Ms Kelly described the Queen’s behavior after Prince Philip’s funeral, revealing: ‘I helped her with her coat and hat and no words were spoken. The Queen then went to her sitting room, closed the door behind her and was alone with her own thoughts.’
It is now believed that the King has taken a step towards honoring his late mother’s wishes by offering Mrs Kelly a home while also protecting her legacy by prohibiting the release of any further details. The Mail on Sunday first revealed in April that Ms Kelly, 65, had been given a house for life by the King after being forced to leave the Windsor estate following the Queen’s death.
Last week Ms Kelly was photographed moving her belongings from her Grade II listed cottage in Berkshire.
The Liverpool-born dresser, who was awarded the Royal Victoria Order in 2012, told friends on Instagram that she was moving north, saying: ‘Ready to say goodbye. I am finally moving into my new house, which I will finally be able to call My Home.’
‘I’m moving to the Peak District just beyond Sheffield, so not too far away from the family… I’m looking forward to my new adventures.’
We can now reveal that the deal was orchestrated by the palace in accordance with the king’s wish that the family not be affected by embarrassing revelations.
Although Mrs. Kelly was a great favorite of the late Queen, she was not liked by all courtiers. The palace staff nicknamed her AK47 – after her initials and the assault rifle – because of her relentless work ethic combined with a notorious temper.

When the Queen died last September, she was fired from her role because Camilla was used to working with Jacqui Meakin, the Queen Mother’s former dresser.
Without the Queen’s protection, Mrs. Kelly was told to leave her Windsor home and friends feared she would again fall victim to the King’s ‘property merry-go-round’. Some even accused him of being “ruthless to all the wrong people.”
Ms. Kelly seemed to give the impression that she was not universally popular. Last week, Ms. Kelly posted on Instagram, “I’m too old to worry about who likes me and who doesn’t!” She famously got into a feud with Prince Harry by reportedly giving Meghan a hard time choosing one of the royal tiaras to wear on her wedding day.
