Angela Bassett’s son pranks her with fake Michael B. Jordan death in TikTok and receives backlash

Angela Bassett’s son is on the receiving end of a flurry of backlash after he joined TikTok’s viral trend of faking a celebrity’s death.

Slater Vance, 16, filmed the reaction of his parents, Angela, 64, and Courtney B. Vance, 62, to the fake news that Wakanda Forever co-star Michael B. Jordan has died.

The now-deleted 20-second clip showed him asking: ‘Did you hear this: Michael B. Jordan dead at 35?’

The Waiting to Exhale star was left speechless as she placed her hand on her chest and her jaw dropped.

Courtney was heard to say: ‘Enough. You’re playing,’ as Angela ran up to her teenage son and repeated, ‘Unh-uh.’

The longtime couple had just returned from an outing and were checking on their son before things turned around.

Dressed in a beige cauldron jumpsuit, the silver screen mermaid asked him where he ordered food from, to which his son casually replied, “Chik-fil-a.”

Bassett and Vance started walking in the opposite direction before Slater stopped them and said, ‘Wait. Mom Dad…’

The What’s Love Got to Do With It star had a look of horror on her face as she put down a water bottle she had been holding.

He picked up his son’s phone before the snippet came to an abrupt end.

The trendy joke was particularly nasty because Angela dealt with the tragic loss of another Black Panther co-star, Chadwick Boseman, not too long ago.

Angela and Courtney also share a daughter named Bronwyn Vance, 16, their son’s fraternal twin.

The children were welcomed via surrogate in 2006, nine years after the couple married.

The lovebirds wrote a book together called Friends: A Love Story, which was published in 2007.
