Two-time Golden Globe winner Angela Bassett and her husband – two-time Emmy winner Courtney B. Vance – hosted the fourth annual Elizabeth Taylor Ball to End AIDS at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Thursday.
The Detroit-born 63-year-old and the New York-born 65-year-old – who first met in 1980 while studying at the Yale School of Drama – will celebrate their 26th wedding anniversary in impressive style on October 12.
Angela sparkled in a pleated dress with single straps, a pearl silver clutch, a diamond necklace and earrings, but was curiously not wearing her wedding ring.
Bassett looked banging in a long wig with raven black fringes and she sported a baby pink manicure for the Gilead Sciences and Bulgari-backed gala.
The 9-1-1 producer star’s suspiciously unwrinkled complexion was completely outlined with plenty of blush on her cheekbones and a vampy shade on her pout.
Date night! Two-time Golden Globe winner Angela Bassett and her husband – two-time Emmy winner Courtney B. Vance – hosted the fourth annual Elizabeth Taylor Ball to End AIDS at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Thursday.
Impressive! The Detroit-born 63-year-old (L) and the New York-born 65-year-old (R) – who first met in 1980 while studying at the Yale School of Drama – will celebrate their 26th wedding anniversary on October 12.
Courtney looked dapper in a metallic suit with a white shirt and black tie, a chic hat, glasses and shiny black dress shoes.
Angela and Vance are proud parents of 17-year-old twins – daughter Bronwyn Golden and son Slater Josiah – whom they welcomed via a surrogate.
The SAG Foundation chairman will next play veteran criminal mastermind Jeremy Horne in Menhaj Huda’s 1988 Chicago bank robbery drama, Heist 88, based on a true story, premiering September 29 on Showtime/Paramount+.
The Pentecostal Evangelical Christian couple both produced Heist 88 through their Bassett/Vance Productions.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will award Bassett an honorary Oscar at the 14th Governors Awards, which will be held on January 9, 2024 after being postponed due to the WGA and SAG/AFTRA strikes.
The strikes also postponed the October 13 premiere of Netflix’s fantasy Damsel, in which the Horizon Forbidden West actress plays Lady Bayford, the stepmother of Princess Elodie (Millie Bobby Brown).
Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s $70 million budget film also stars Robin Wright, Ray Winstone, Nick Robinson, Ricky Guillart, Brooke Carter and Shohreh Aghdashloo.
Bassett will also eventually reprise her role as LAPD Patrol Sergeant Athena Grant in the seventh season of Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear’s first responder drama 9-1-1, which will move from Fox to ABC next year.
Angela and Courtney made sure to pose with the couple of the hour – Earvin “Magic” Johnson and Earlitha “Cookie” Johnson – who were recognized with the Elizabeth Taylor Commitment to End AIDS Award for their decades of advocacy.
The 64-year-old NBA legend famously announced his own HIV diagnosis upon his retirement in 1991.
