Angel Reese was ‘so lazy’ in high school, NBA coach Sam Cassell claims

Boston Celtics assistant Sam Cassell has accused Angel Reese of being “so lazy” during her high school basketball career.

Reese has become one of the biggest stars in women’s sports, enjoying a rivalry with Caitlin Clark that has catapulted the WNBA to new heights.

The former LSU forward has turned heads since her days at St Frances Academy, where it was clear she was in a league of her own.

But Cassell, a Maryland native who had a stellar career in the NBA, has revealed how Reese might not be making the most of her talent.

“I thought she was so lazy in high school because she was so much better than anyone,” Cassell told the “Come and talk to me‘podcast.

“Sometimes she would miss a layup, get a rebound and miss another layup. The other team got the ball and she didn’t want to run onto the field anymore.”

Reese was selected seventh overall by the Chicago Sky and she enjoyed a fine rookie year before suffering a season-ending wrist injury.

Over the past few years, Cassell has enjoyed watching Reese develop – on both sides of the ball.

“To see her rise through the ranks of Baltimore High School and now see her play the game of basketball,” he added.

“She was so lazy in high school because she was so much better than anyone else,” Cassell said

Reese now hosts her own podcast – Unapologously Angel – and the WNBA star fired back at Taylor Swift fans amid the backlash over her interview with Travis Kelce’s ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole.

Nicole, who dated Kelce for five years before his romance with Swift, discussed her past relationship with the Kansas City Chiefs this week.

Reese told Nicole at one point that she “loved” her and Kelce together. Both have been targeted by Swift’s fans in the aftermath of the interview, with Reese criticized for bringing up the subject to gain opinions.

The basketball star responded to the criticism on social media: “Hating pays too,” she wrote, along with a nail polish emoji.
