Angel Reese jokes she’ll be friends with Caitlin Clark ‘for one day’ as WNBA rivals become teammates TONIGHT in All-Star game

Angel Reese has indicated she’s ready to put her fierce rivalry with Caitlin Clark aside on Saturday night when the two rival rookies suit up for the WNBA All-Star team.

Reese and Clark have taken interest in the WNBA to new heights with their college rivalry that has continued into their rookie seasons. Clark was the first pick in this year’s draft, going to the Indiana Fever, while Reese went seventh to the Chicago Sky.

Since then, Clark has been a particular target of Sky, with Chennedy Carter pushing her to the ground in a match against Fever, while Reese herself said Clark has a “special whistle” after she was ejected for challenging the No. 1 pick last month.

But now the rivals have become teammates for a day and Reese is relishing the opportunity.

“That’s what everybody wants to see,” she told ESPN. “I’m looking forward to it. Everybody can wear their ‘Get Along’ shirts together for at least one day.”

‘I know a lot of people will come to watch, to see us all, but there is a lot of talent in both teams, so it will be a great game.’

She continued: ‘We haven’t had a conversation yet, of course everyone can cheer us on for a day – it’ll be cool. I’m excited, this will be the first of many.

“We’re going to be on All-Star teams together in the future, Olympic teams together (holds up crossed fingers) in the future as well. I’m just excited to be here right now. I’m happy.

Reese also revealed one thing from Clark’s game that she’d like to add to her own.

“Her passing is on point – her passing is great. I’m just excited to play off her and see what we can both do,” she said.

Reese also announced that her mother and brother will not be attending Saturday night’s game in Phoenix, Arizona, due to worldwide flights being grounded due to a Microsoft outage.

Clark, meanwhile, had nothing but respect for Reese after the two trained together on Friday.

“It’s super rare to be here as a rookie and to have two of us here is really great,” the Fever star said. “I think it’s going to help the game grow.”

After Saturday’s game, the WNBA will be on hiatus until August 15 for the Olympics, giving Clark and Reese a much-needed break.

“I’ve been playing basketball for a year,” Clark said. “It’s not easy to just show up and shoot off a rack.

“It’s not something I’ve ever done before. It’s not something I’ve had a lot of time to practice.”
