Angel Reese has nothing but respect for Candace Parker.
The Chicago Sky rookie raved about the WNBA legend when asked if she broke any of her WNBA records on Sunday.
“She’s the best,” Reese told reporters on a Zoom call Sunday after recording her 13th straight double-double during their game against the Seattle Storm.
Parker, who retired earlier this year, previously set a record with 12 games during the 2009 and 2010 seasons while playing for the Los Angeles Sparks.
“I had conversations with her, her family, her mother, I talked to them before I even came to Chicago,” Reese continued.

“I’ve always respected CP3 and I try to take some things from her game and add them to mine. And just to be mentioned with such a great player like her will always be special to me.”
The virtual press conference was later interrupted by an unidentified reporter who was on an active microphone.
As a reporter asked the LSU alum how he broke the double-double streak record, he overheard an awkward conversation from someone else on the phone in the background.
‘[Are we] “Will I ever have an intimate relationship?” one woman asked.
Then a man’s voice said, “Ouch, that’s an awkward subject.”
A confused Reese added, “Excuse me?” before the staff asked the reporter to repeat his question.
The man’s voice clarified, “I’ve never been interested in being intimate with anyone,” as Reese covered her mouth in shock.
“Ooo, they’re getting fired,” the 22-year-old added jokingly.
Eventually the problem was resolved and the reporter was able to ask the question again.
“I’ve always respected CP3 and I try to take some things from her playing,” Reese said enthusiastically

She also had to deal with a very awkward moment during a virtual press conference after the match
This past weekend wasn’t the first time Reese broke one of Parker’s records.
She previously became the first player in league history to record 10 consecutive double-doubles in a single season, breaking the record set by nine Hall of Famers in 2015.
The impressive feat came less than 20 games into Reese’s WNBA career, after she finished with 10 points and 16 rebounds in her team’s 70-62 loss to the Minnesota Lynx earlier this month.
“She knows what she does best,” Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon told reporters after the match.
“The one thing about her is she’s incredibly hard on herself. As far as rebounding the ball, we knew that would translate to [from college]. And she’s getting a better understanding of how to score around the ring. She’s learning and she’s learning fast.’
