Angel Reese extends WNBA record amid tight Rookie of the Year race with Caitlin Clark

Angel Reese has achieved another double-double, tying her WNBA record for 15 consecutive games, as she continues her quest for Rookie of The Year honors.

The 22-year-old forward finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds in the Chicago Sky’s 91-76 loss to the New York Liberty on Thursday night in the Big Apple.

She grabbed her tenth rebound with just over two minutes left in the game, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.

Reese’s tenth point brought the Sky (9-13) back to 78-72 with 3:51 left on the clock.

Earlier this week, controversial NBA analyst Jason Whitlock accused referees and players of corrupt practices to boost Reese’s image at the expense of Caitlin Clark.

Angel Reese scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Sky’s 91-76 loss to the Liberty on Thursday.

“The racial idolatry… do you see people going out of their way — not in the movie Indiana Fever — to help Caitlin Clark?” he asked.

Meanwhile, Chennedy Carter was the Sky’s top scorer against Liberty with 22 points from 10 of 21 attempts, while Reese could only convert 5 of her 17 shots.

Chicago took a 37-24 lead behind Carter midway through the second quarter before power forward Breanna Stewart took charge and pulled the Liberty back to 40-38 at halftime.

Stewart scored the first seven points of a 14-1 run to bring New York back into the game.

Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu scored her first points of the match to tie the score at 38-38, having missed her first seven shots.

However, the 21-year-old attacker struggled with her field play as she only hit the target on 5 of her 17 shots.

Before the second quarter began, New York honored many of its former players, including Ring of Honor members Kym Hampton and Sue Wicks.

The announcer saved Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon for last and her former teammates came up to her and mobbed her after the ceremony ended.

Weatherspoon received a warm round of applause from the crowd of 17,758, the largest applause in Liberty history at Barclays Center.

Both teams were playing the second game of a back-to-back, with the Sky beating Atlanta in Chicago on Wednesday, while New York beat Connecticut.

The two teams will play each other again on Saturday in Chicago.
