- Angel Reese and Chennedy Carter starred in Thursday’s win over the Mystics
- Chicago Sky celebrated by unveiling their hilarious new nicknames together
Chicago Sky have their own Barbie and Ken in Angel Reese and Chennedy Carter after Thursday’s win over Washington Mystics.
Reese scored 16 points with 11 rebounds in the 79-71 win over the winless Mystics, while Carter was the leading scorer with season-high 25 points in addition to four rebounds.
To celebrate the win Friday, Sky’s social media channel dubbed the duo “Barbie and Chenn” – in reference to Reese’s “Chi Barbie” nickname she gave herself after being drafted by Chicago.
Previously, Reese, 22, played college basketball at LSU, where she called herself “Bayou Barbie.”
Reese and Carter started the week despite mounting criticism after a close match last Saturday against Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever.
Chicago Sky has named Angel Reese and Chennedy Carter their “Barbie and Chenn.”

Carter scored a season-high 25 points as the Chicago Sky defeated the Mystics on Thursday
Carter’s shoulder charged Clark off the ball after he appeared to shout ‘you b****’ at her as she waited for a pass.
Then footage emerged of Reese, who was off the court, jumping out of her chair and cheering the seemingly unsolicited body check of Clark, who was her rival in college when she was at Iowa.
Carter let her play do the talking on Thursday and did not speak to the media after the win, but Reese did speak to reporters about the win.
“I think this is what the team needed from me,” Reese said after one of her most promising performances in the competition to date. “They needed me to step into that role, to come in and just rebound and play defense and bring a lot of energy.”
Carter spoke about the Clark controversy earlier this week and expressed no regrets about what happened.
After training on Monday she said: ‘I don’t regret anything. I’m going to compete and play 100 percent hard no matter who it is or who we’re playing against.”
Carter said she acted in the “heat of the moment” and simply retaliated. Footage appears to show Clark catching the guard with her elbow moments before she was knocked to the ground.
Reese and Carter return to action for the 4-5 Sky on Saturday night when they host the Atlanta Dream in Chicago.
