Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou went above and beyond, flying from Scotland to Australia to promote his performance at the inaugural Sydney Super Cup in November.

The former Socceroos boss was on hand on Tuesday to improve the four-team tournament, which will also see England Premier League side Everton and A-League teams Sydney FC and the Western Sydney Wanderers.

The Blues have replaced Celtic’s bitter rivals Rangers, who controversially withdrew from the tournament.

Postecoglou, 57, used the current international break to celebrate what has been called his ‘coming home’.

He spoke of his ‘great pride’ to be in a familiar environment, with the Hoops to play the Sky Blues at Allianz Stadium on November 17, before backing up to play Frank Lampard’s Everton at Accor Stadium on November 20th.

Mark Rudan’s Wanderers will be Everton’s second game three days later in the Harbor City at the Commbank Stadium in Parramatta.

“We have a large contingent of (Celtic) supporters down under, and knowing that an Australian manager is in charge (of the club) is very humbling for me,” Postecoglou told 10 News.

“It will be great to play fantastic opponents in the Premier League, and such a big club in Everton will be a great experience.

“Everyone knows how closely the EPL is being followed in Australia, everyone is excited about the opportunity.”

Footballer Harry Kewell – part of Postecoglou’s coaching staff at Celtic Park – also took the opportunity to return home after growing up in western Sydney.

He loves life with the Scottish champions and is counting down the days to the Sydney Super Cup.

“Everyone has embraced me from day one at the club,” said the former Leeds and Liverpool winger.

“As soon as Ange called me, I was all in.

“To be back in my hometown is also very exciting, I grew up a short distance from Accor Stadium, it’s always good to go back there.

“Everton is a special team, it will be a privilege to play against them.

“Both teams will try to show what they can do with the ball… it will be a great spectacle for the fans.”

The Sydney Super Cup will be a biennial event featuring Europe’s top football teams in NSW every other year, Destination NSW announced.
