Ange Postecoglou delivered on a promise to Tottenham fans as he began his first day in his new job at the north London club.
Postecoglou, 57, was named to succeed Antonio Conte last month and has been tasked with taking Spurs to the top of the Premier League after a humble eighth-place finish last season.
Despite bringing in big names in Conte and Jose Mourinho in the past, Tottenham fans have endured largely negative football, with the masses clamoring for an aggressive style of play to get them off their seats.
And Postecoglou, delighted with his positive attitude to football at Celtic, has vowed to re-enthuse fans in north London when he arrived at the club’s training base to begin pre-season.
“I like to win, mate, that’s the most important thing. I’ve done that wherever I’ve been. So football is designed to bring success,” he said.
“In addition, it is very important to me that there is an element of something that most fans and players want to be associated with. It’s football that’s exciting, that people talk about.
“It’s not just about the end result but the way you play football and that’s very important to me because I think it’s a way to be successful and secondly it allows people to stick to the things that are most special about our game.
That’s what I’m trying to offer. You’re never right in every way, but the foundation of it will be that we want to be a team that wins things, but ultimately also entertains the fans.
“We have six weeks to prepare these guys so we are ready for the first weekend of Premier League football,” he said.
