Tottenham fans are notoriously hard to please, having not won any trophies since 2008, but it seems new manager Ange Postecoglou has already made quite an impression on one North London supporter in particular.
In a clip circulates online, the eager Spurs tragically – guitar in hand – sang his personal tribute to the manager, who gained even more admirers after leading his team to an impressive 2-0 victory over Manchester United on the final start.
And of course the fan’s song was inspired by the lyrics of Waltzing Matildaa national classic that the proud Australian and former Socceroos coach would know well.
‘Ange Postecoglou, Ange Postecoglou, he came to Tottenham on a kangaroo,’ the song began in a room full of supporters, decked out in the club’s white jersey.
“He won everything in Scotland, but traded it all for Tottenham… let’s all sing for Ange Postecoglou.”

It follows Tottenham’s unbeaten start to the Premier League, which included a 2-0 win over Manchester United
After an undefeated start to the season with his team, the former Socceroos boss continues to be praised for his attacking approach to games.
Tottenham writer Charlie Eccleshare compared Melbourne-raised Postecoglou to Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, who took over at the Emirates in 2019 and has since transformed the Gunners into genuine Premier League contenders.
“Postecoglou is almost evangelical about the way he wants to play, he is uncompromising. Arteta, everyone assumed he was going to be a mini-Pep (Guardiola),’ he said.
“Ange came in and basically said this is my system… and we’re going to do this right away.
“He also lost his striker (and captain) in Harry Kane…it was an impressive start.”
It continued the high praise for the former Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory coach in the A-League, who won silverware in Japan with Yokohama F. Marinos and Celtic in Scotland in recent years.
Despite his continued success, chairman Daniel Levy’s appointment was initially ridiculed by some supporters, who felt that ‘Aussie Ange’ was not good enough to excel in the Premier League.
It’s still early days, but Postecoglou has made a habit of letting his critics eat their words.
