Andy Ruiz’s ex Julia Lemus claims boxer ‘raped and abused her’ and ‘pointed an AK-47 in her face’

The ex-girlfriend of heavyweight prizefighter Andy Ruiz was granted a temporary restraining order against the boxer earlier this month after alleging he raped, assaulted and terrorized her during their relationship.

In an exclusive with TMZ sportsit was revealed that Julia Lemus filed for a domestic violence restraining order in San Diego on April 6.

In the charges, she claimed that Ruiz had “sexually, physically and psychologically abused me, making me feel like I had to walk on eggshells throughout their relationship.”

Lemus, a 26-year-old who was with the boxer from 2015 to 2022, also alleged that Ruiz physically and emotionally abused their two children.

Ruiz has denied the allegations and claims he was victimized during the relationship after Lemus stabbed him with a knife.

According to the documents, Lemus also accused the boxer of alcohol and drug abuse, which she said caused her to “fear for my life and safety and the life and safety of my children.”

Lemus says 33-year-old Ruiz started getting physical with her around the time he defeated Anthony Joshua for the unified heavyweight title in 2019.

She documented multiple instances of alleged abuse in the restraining order application, saying, “He started grabbing my upper arms and physically pulling me to move me wherever he wanted.”

Lemus also claimed that Ruiz began “jokingly” beating her in the arms and legs, but left her covered in bruises. She has provided photographic evidence of this in her filings.

She also documents once earlier this year when the fifth-place heavyweight bought multiple firearms in Las Vegas and wanted her to see them.

Lemus said she was uncomfortable with the amount of firearms around and that Ruiz “pointed an AK-47 at my face.” After telling Ruiz to stop, he told her to “shut the fuck up,” before telling her the guns weren’t loaded and calling her “dramatic.”

Then, around February 2023, Lemus claims that Ruiz began sexually assaulting her, with the boxer forcing himself on her on at least six separate occasions.

Shortly after Lemus filed for the temporary restraining order, a court granted it — ordering Ruiz to stay 100 yards away from her, banning him from owning any firearms, and giving Lemus sole legal and physical custody of their children.

A hearing on this matter is scheduled for Monday.

Ruiz filed a legal response to Lemus’ documents in court on Thursday, saying he: “Chorusly denies ever abusing Julia Lemus or his children,” adding that there is “no valid reason to separate Ruiz” from his children.

He also filed allegations that Lemus had been violent throughout their relationship. Ruiz claims she stabbed him with a knife in February 2020 – and took pictures of that as well.

Ruiz also said that in April 2020, Lemus “entered my hotel room with a loaded gun in her hand and yelled, ‘everyone get out of here.'”

The boxer also alleges that Lemus stole $250,000 worth of jewelry from him last March

Ruiz says that Lemus hit one of his friends on the head with the gun and broke furniture in the room.

Lemus has also been accused by Ruiz of slapping, beating and grabbing him “several times,” with the boxer saying, “Not once did I ever physically react to Julia’s attack.”

Lemus has also been accused of stealing $250,000 worth of jewelry from him in the past month, as Ruiz says he reported the theft to the San Diego Police Department.

Ruiz has not publicly commented on the matter.

The boxer will fight for the WBC heavyweight title against Tyson Fury on July 22 this year in London.
