Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has paid tribute to White House catering staff after the “phenomenal” food he and his team were served this week during their trip to meet President Biden.
The Super Bowl champions made headlines earlier this week during their visit to Washington DC, with star men Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce leading the way.
But the real heroes of the day, according to Reid, were the White House chefs, as he revealed exactly what the team was eating while they were in the building.
“They had something good,” he said at a press conference. “They had a — I’ve never had this before — a sandwich with French toast, grilled cheese, and ham that they sprinkled a little powdered sugar on.
I mean it was phenomenal. There was [an] abundance of this. And then they had chicken fingers – exotic chicken fingers to boot.

Reid is a well-known foodie and raved about the catering at the White House this week
“Maybe the best part was that they had—which I hadn’t seen before—little, bite-sized squares of the watermelon heart.
My hat is off to the chief. I went back and talked to him. I just say, “You guys are incredible.” I mean, whoever cut all that out and had the patience to do it… hats off.”
The food on offer at the White House may just give Reid and the Chiefs a little extra motivation to repeat their triumph this season as preparations for the 2023 campaign are in full swing.
In February in Phoenix, the Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 to clinch the Lombardi Trophy, sparking wild celebrations at home.
The players then partied for days and enjoyed an open-top bus parade through the city – but they had to wait to get to the White House.
While there, President Biden paid tribute to Kansas City Chiefs matriarch Norma Hunt.
Norma, the wife of Kansas City Chiefs founder and former owner Lamar Hunt, passed away last weekend at the age of 85.

Norma, the mother of current NFL team owner Clark, was the only woman to attend every Super Bowl and saw her beloved Chiefs hoist the Lombardi Trophy for a third time in February.
“We miss one of the most loyal Chiefs fans ever, Norma Hunt, who passed away this weekend. I would suggest a moment of silence,” he said before he and the players behind him bowed their heads respectfully.
POTUS sent condolences to the entire Hunt family and the Chiefs organization on behalf of him and First Lady Jill Biden, who missed the event because she was in the Middle East.
