Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce may not play against the Los Angeles Chargers this weekend, according to team head coach Andy Reid.

The Chiefs' final regular-season game against the Chargers is Sunday, with the team moving into third place in the AFC playoffs.

Reid has confirmed that several starters will not play in the game, with quarterback Patrick Mahomes officially sitting out. Kelce's status is unclear and Reid has not committed in any way how much he will play on Sunday.

When asked about the players who came close to the milestone when they played against Los Angeles, the 65-year-old Reid said it “depends” on what the performance is.

Then a reporter asked directly about Kelce's chances for an eighth consecutive 1,000-yard season. “We'll see how that all goes,” Reid said.

Reid added that talks about playing in Week 18 for players are “one-sided.”

That seems to imply what Reid wants, he gets while at the helm of the Chiefs.

It has become more common in the NFL during the final week of the regular season to draft key players among teams whose playoff fates have already been determined.

The Baltimore Ravens will battle MVP favorite Lamar Jackson this weekend, while the AFC's No. 1 seed is locked down this weekend.

The Denver Broncos know they won't make the playoffs, so if Russell Wilson doesn't play, his career with the team will effectively end.

Kelce has 984 yards receiving and may need just one reception to get the 16 yards needed to bring his season total to four figures.

The Chiefs will start Blaine Gabbert at quarterback in place of Mahomes on Sunday.

Since Kelce's status is uncertain, there is no word on whether Kelce's girlfriend Taylor Swift will be at the game.
