Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid had nothing but praise for L’Jarius Sneed, claiming to be the cornerback’s “biggest fan” after he was traded to the Tennessee Titans.
Sneed, 27, has been with Kansas City in the NFL for four years and was instrumental in their recent title wins.
Unfortunately, Sneed had to part ways with the team due to salary cap-related reasons. With Sneed at the end of his last contract, the Chiefs allowed him to seek a trade and then placed a franchise tag to trade him away as best they could.
“(He’s) one of my favorite guys of all time,” Reid told Sneed’s Paul Kuharsky. ‘Great person. As great a player as he is, he is an even better person. As heavy as you can imagine. I’m his biggest fan.
“He was our lockdown guy. Any best receiver, he had the best receiver.”

After four years in Kansas City, Sneed was traded to Tennessee for salary cap reasons
Sneed made 303 tackles, 6.5 sacks and 10 interceptions in 57 games for the Chiefs
Although dismayed by his departure, Reid discussed the circumstances further. By losing Sneed, the Chiefs received a 2025 third-round pick and traded the seventh-round picks to the Titans for the upcoming draft.
“You’re juggling the salary cap, it’s ridiculous what you have to go through,” he added. ‘The players you can keep and the players you can’t keep. But we all loved him and that wasn’t the problem.’
Sneed played in 57 games and recorded 303 tackles, 6.5 sacks and 10 interceptions during his time with the Chiefs.
In Kansas City’s back-to-back title runs, Sneed had 75 solo and 33 assisted tackles, with three interceptions in 2022. This past season, he recorded 60 solo and 18 assisted tackles with two interceptions.
Sneed will join the Titans as they attempt to make their first playoff appearance since 2021. Tennessee finished fourth in the AFC South last season with a 6-11 record.
Before acquiring Sneed, Tennessee bolstered their offense by signing receiver Calvin Ridley to a four-year, $92 million deal from Jacksonville.
