Andy Lee’s lovey-dovey post celebrating nine years with girlfriend Rebecca Harding is sparking an unexpected backlash on social media as one striking detail sparks outrage from fans: ‘Show her some respect’
Comedian Andy Lee celebrated his nine-year anniversary with girlfriend Rebecca Harding this week.
To mark the occasion, the 42-year-old shared a touching photo of the couple on Instagram on Friday.
‘I met this girl 9 years ago today… she’s still hanging around and I still look stupid next to her!!! All the love!’ he wrote in the inscription.
But the funnyman’s followers couldn’t resist playfully inquiring about the potential engagement.
‘Diamonds are a girl’s best friend Andy!’ read one comment.

“Hurry up and ask her one question that will be answered with a correct YES,” wrote one follower.
‘9 years and you’re still steaming it! give her some respect and let her know if you don’t plan on marrying her!’ wrote another.
“Her arm looks awfully empty,” another fan remarked.

However, debate raged in the comments section when some followers felt the marriage proposals crossed the line.
‘For God’s sake. They don’t have to get married!! They can live a loving life without marriage!’ one follower expressed.
“Did anyone ever think that Bec might not want a ring on it?” questioned the other.

“Imagine how many ‘link’ posts you’ll get, but personally, I think love is great, if you have it, who cares, it’s a beautiful thing,” offered another commenter.
“At this point I feel you are as good as married.” Nobody cares if you get married or not. Be happy and be yourself,” another fan stated.
It comes just weeks after Lee fielded questions about the proposal to KIIS FM’s Jase & Lauren.
“My 9 years (of a relationship) means I’m probably behind the standard (to get engaged),” he said.

Andy then joked that he would propose to Charlie Curnow if Carlton Football Club won the AFL final.
“I’ll propose to Charlie Curnow any day of the week,” he added.
It comes after Andy and Rebecca recently reignited marriage rumors while enjoying a romantic holiday in Italy.
In an Instagram post Andy made in July, the comedian referred to himself as Rebecca’s ‘husband’ three times.
Alongside a picture of himself sitting in a changing room waiting for his love, Andy wrote: “As I sat in the 100th chair of the day waiting for Bec to finish some more shopping, I looked to my right and saw a glimpse of the future.
“Beck’s dad found the only other chair.” Here’s to presiding husbands around the world. You are seen… but never heard (as you should),” he continued.
‘Upload your chair husband pictures in solidarity. #ChairHusbands.’
His fans were quick to spot the reference, with one commenting under the picture: ‘Can you call yourself a chair husband if you haven’t proposed?’
“Husband” hey Ando?!’ another said, with another scribbling: ‘BUT… Are you a husband?’
Engagement rumors also started in 2020 when Andy posted a photo of Rebecca hiding her left hand while celebrating her 30th birthday.
“Is there a ring he’s hiding up his left sleeve?” wrote one eagle-eyed follower, eager to see if the couple would be sharing any exciting news.
