Andy Cohen lashed out at Teresa Giudice’s husband Luis Ruelas over a “shady” comment he made about the son of their Real Housewives of New Jersey colleague Margaret Josephs.
During his appearance on Tuesday’s episode of the Garbage world podcast, the 56-year-old Emmy Award-winning host admitted he would have been “totally freaking out” if he were in Josephs’ shoes.
During the explosive RHONJ finale, which aired Sunday, Ruelas, 49, raised eyebrows when he told his 52-year-old wife that he hopes “Margaret and her family suffer.”
The reality star went on to state that he wants Joseph’s “fuckin’ son” to suffer the same way he “has suffered” and “the same way other people in ‘their’ family have suffered.”
Teresa seemed to agree that his feelings were valid, as she claimed that their “children” had “suffered” from Margaret’s behavior.

Since becoming a father to four-year-old son Benjamin and two-year-old daughter Lucy, Cohen is viewing the drama between the Housewives and their wives “a little differently.”
“Let me tell you something,” the Watch What Happens Live host said. “If anyone I didn’t like was going to say the name of one of my kids… it would be Danielle. [Cabral].
He further joked that Cabral does not allow people to talk about her husband’s pecs, but he does allow it if you talk about my children in a negative way.
Casey Wilson and Danielle Schneider, who co-host the podcast Garbage World, pointed out that Giudice and her costars “never went after each other’s kids.”
“Children have always been important to these women,” they noted.
After insulting Joseph’s adult son, he called the 57-year-old fashion designer a “disgusting, vile human being.”
“She’s here to take advantage of everything that’s going on, and she’s a piece of trash,” he continued. “If Margaret doesn’t apologize to you, she’s not even worth you sitting in front of her, Teresa.”

On Tuesday, Giudice expressed regret for his comment in a post on his Instagram Story.
“The finale was very hard to watch and I wanted to address it with all of you. After watching the finale, I was disappointed in my actions in bringing up Margaret Joseph’s son,” he confessed. “The reason he was brought up at all was because I was dealing with a false allegation that I called Margaret’s son at work, which is simply not true.”
He continued: ‘Over the past year Margaret has continued to spread this story that I called her son at work and I have to deal with it knowing that I’m being lied to. Yet I know better than to talk about someone’s child and that is something I deeply regret, so I want to apologize and acknowledge that I was wrong.’
After the episode aired, Ruelas received a lot of criticism for targeting a civilian who had chosen not to participate in the series and was not filmed for it.
Since becoming a father to son Benjamin, four, and daughter Lucy, two, Cohen says he views the drama between the Housewives and their wives “a little differently.”
He said he would have gone “absolutely crazy” if someone said that about his children
“Omg. For Luis to say I hope Marge’s son suffers is a bridge too far,” wrote one user on X (formerly Twitter). Her son never stepped on the shoe, never spoke to the press about what happened or didn’t happen, that was cruel.”
“Luis is a REAL D*** for saying something like that about Margaret’s SON suffering! He is NOT A good PERSON!” added another outraged viewer.
Fans who wouldn’t normally cheer for Teresa seemed just as concerned about what Luis said as her usual defenders.
“I’m not even a fan of Teresa but damn, couldn’t she have found a better woman than Louise?? I don’t know, maybe one kind attracts another,” one user added.
Another viewer put it simply: “Loui is the downfall of Teresa and #RHONJ. A total scumbag.”
Ruelas said he wanted Joseph’s “damn son” to suffer “the way” he “suffered” and “the way other people in” their “family suffered”
Teresa seemed to agree that his sentiment was justified, as she claimed that their “children” had “suffered” as a result of Margaret’s behavior
Even fans who didn’t like Margaret found Luis’ comments inappropriate.
‘Look Margaret is a dumb b*** who usually does dark things. But Teresa… BABY your man, wishing for her to suffer is wild,’ warned one fan. ‘Luis is f***ing wild! I would seriously try to get away from him Teresa!’
Elsewhere in the episode, Teresa continued her attacks on Margaret by portraying her husband as a “fucking plumber”, which did not go down well with many viewers.
“Marge being married to a plumber is an insult anyway? Joe is one of the best husbands on the show,” one outraged fan wrote, via Page Six.
‘Teresa commenting on Joe being a plumber etc is disgusting. Real men work hard for a living, Teresa and tradesmen are above you,’ added another user.
Despite Luis and Teresa’s plans to attack Margaret, Margaret received a shock when Margaret revealed that Jackie Goldschneider was the first person to speak to Luis’ ex, with whom he was involved in a lawsuit.

Teresa, however, was much more forgiving towards Jackie, either because they already had a better relationship or because she did not want to temper her anger towards Margaret.
RHONJ will return for a final episode where the show’s stars will watch and comment on Sunday’s finale. The women will be separated into two separate rooms to keep the warring factions apart.
Cohen said last week that the series may need a “reboot” to remove the toxic relationships and constant bickering.
He has suggested similar steps in recent weeks as fans on his radio show have increasingly complained about RHONJ.
