Andy Cohen reveals daughter Lucy was ‘one of the first gestational surrogate babies born’ in NY

The daughter of Emmy-winning producer Andy Cohen, Lucy Eve may only be 13 months old, but she’s already made history as “one of the first surrogacy surrogate babies born” in New York State.

Surrogacy is the process of hiring a woman, who has not cared for her own egg, to carry a fetus for another person/couple.

“Until then, it was illegal in New York State [2020] and I helped get that bill passed,” the 55-year-old Missouri resident said on Amanda Hirsch’s Dear Media podcast Not skinny but not fat last Tuesday.

“And Governor Cuomo, he really pulled it off.”

The 65-year-old Democratic politician stepped down in 2021 following allegations that he had sexually harassed 11 women while in office.

The 55-year-old Missouri resident said on Amanda Hirsch’s Dear Media podcast Not Skinny But Not Fat last Tuesday: “[Gestational] surrogacy was illegal in New York State until that time [2020] and I helped get that bill passed. And Governor Cuomo, he really made it happen’

Andy revealed he has traveled to Albany twice to help pass the Child-Parent Security Act, which has led to “thousands of New Yorkers struggling with infertility, cancer survivors and LGBT+ being given a chance at a family” .

“I wanted to have the baby in New York, or I wanted my surrogate mother to have the baby in New York. And so Lucy was one of the first surrogate babies to be born here,” Cohen explained.

“But it was also good because it gave me a lot more time to get good at it [my four-year-old son Benjamin Allen].’

The two-time Peabody Award winner reportedly has two remaining frozen embryos in the “bank.”

He suggested a new scenario where they could come in handy in the future in case his two children are unable to have children of their own and want to raise their siblings instead.

Andy did the podcast to promote his fourth 288-page book, The Daddy Diaries: The Year I Grew Up, which hit shelves May 9.

Despite the WGA strike, Cohen is still in production for his boozy Bravo late-night talk show Watch What Happens Live with emerging guests Rebecca Romijn, Mark Consuelos, Amy Schumer, Chase Lemacks, and Daisy Kelliher.
