Andrew Tate was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault in 2015 while running a webcam business in Britain, it was revealed last night.

The notorious social media influencer, who was arrested in Romania as part of a rape and human trafficking probe last month, was accused of violently abusing two women who yesterday came forward with their claims.

One of the women alleges he raped her, while the other claimed he repeatedly strangled both of them. Tate last night denied the allegations in a statement issued to Vice from his Romanian lawyer.

The accusers also blamed the UK judicial system for ‘mishandling’ their case, which left Tate, who has gained hordes of fans after sharing misogynistic content online, free to gain global popularity.

According to one woman, who was 20 at the time, Tate used ’emotional and physical’ manipulation while running his Luton-based webcam business back in 2015.

She told Vice World News how she was allegedly a regular victim of abuse during her £15-an-hour shifts for Tate’s webcam business from a ‘dingy flat in Luton’ and was strangled ‘at least five times’.

She said: ‘When I saw that he was arrested in Romania I was shocked and didn’t know how to react. I cried. Everything I read is what I told the police [at the time of the complaint].’

The second accuser, who was allegedly raped by Tate, added: ‘I have been very frustrated by the British police and court system for a long time, they could have stopped him from doing the exact same abuse to these women in Romania.

‘I hope and pray he’s finally arrested for his disgusting abuse and crimes against young women, and I can finally exist without having to see and hear the person who degraded and raped me all over the Internet.’

The accusations come after the social media influencer was arrested in Romania in December following allegations he forced women he kept in his house to create online pornographic videos for profit.

The four suspects were initially held on suspicion of rape, human trafficking, and organized crime offences for 24 hours following raids on his villa and other properties.

Tate, his brother Tristan, and the other suspects are all set to be held for 30 days while Romanian police continue their probe.

At the time of the alleged crimes, Tate was released under investigation and appeared as a contestant in the Big Brother house in 2016.

Tate was eventually booted off the Channel 5 reality show, with reports linking his ousting with a video shared online appearing to show the influencer slapping an ex-girlfriend and hitting her with a belt.

However, it has since been claimed that the real reason behind Tate’s ejection was the fact the police’s sexual abuse investigation came to light.

Producers were aware of the police investigation at the time of Tate entering as a contestant, telling Vice he was ‘closely monitored at all times’ before being ejected five days later on June 13, 2016.

But it was reported last night that there were delays made by Hertfordshire Police in handing the case over to the Crown Prosecution Service. The accusers also claim Herts Police ‘mishandled’ their case.

In a statement, a Hertfordshire Police spokesperson told Vice: ‘We acknowledge that there were some delays to the investigation. This was addressed at the time and apologies were made.

‘The case was only closed in late 2019 after a case file had been sent to the Crown Prosecution Service and they took the decision not to prosecute.

‘All those involved in the investigation were further updated at that time.’

Chicago-born Tate, whose full name is Emory Andrew Tate III, has been branded ‘the king of toxic masculinity’ for his online diatribes against women – which have gained him notoriety and millions of followers.

Tate, a former pro kickboxer, first came to prominence when he appeared on the reality show Big Brother in 2016, but was ejected from the show after a video surfaced online which appeared to show him striking a woman with a belt – a clip he claimed had been edited.

Tate’s home in the Eastern European nation was also raided on April 11 this year as part of a human trafficking investigation.

Following the April raid, which was reportedly prompted by a complaint from a US citizen to the American Embassy in Bucharest, the Tate brothers were detained for several hours for questioning but ultimately released as the investigation continued.

Andrew Tate has previously boasted to his followers that ’40 percent’ of the reason he moved to Romania was because the police were less likely to pursue any sexual assault allegations against him.

Together with his brother Tristan, he allegedly set up a webcam business in Romania in which young models told sob stories to unsuspecting male viewers.

Despite previously saying that the site was ‘a total scam’, Tate claims to have made millions from it.
