Andrew Garfield reveals Jessica Chastain’s thoughtful gesture before his mother died

Andrew Garfield has revealed how Jessica Chastain ‘rearranged’ their filming schedule so he could visit his dying mother Lynn.

Lynn died of pancreatic cancer in England in 2019, during the production of Andrew and Jessica’s film The Eyes Of Tammy Faye.

However, Andrew, 41, was able to leave the set in North Carolina and fly back home to Britain to be with his mother in her final days.

Jessica and Searchlight Pictures director David Greenbaum made changes to the shoot’s itinerary to accommodate Andrew’s trip.

He recalled how “amazing” it was that David and “Jessica rearranged the schedule at the last minute – postponed filming for a few days so I could go back and be with my mom for 10 days,” via People.

In The Eyes Of Tammy Faye, Andrew and Jessica played disgraced husband and wife televangelists Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, respectively.

The film, based on a 2000 documentary narrated by RuPaul, was released in 2021 and earned Jessica an Academy Award for Best Actress.

Andrew recalled the warm bond he built with Jessica on the set of their film, during the emotionally charged time of his mother’s illness.

‘We had deep conversations because we both got to know each other as people. “I’m very grateful for that time with her because it was a time when my mother was very sick and eventually passed away,” he said.

When Lynn reached the end of her life, one of Andrew’s other costars, Vincent D’Onofrio, urged him to fly to her deathbed in England.

“Because he had his own experience of a loss he could not make up for, he said, ‘Go. You have to go,” Andrew recalled in his new interview. “And I thought, ‘Well, I know I have to go and thank you.'”

Andrew’s warm comments about Jessica come after she deleted a controversial post on X, formerly Twitter, in which she complained about the faulty entertainment system during her recent Jet Blue trip.

“Thank you @JetBlue for your $15.00 credit. My flight cost $1,500 and the credit is 1/100 of the money I paid you,” she wrote in the post.

“Strange that I paid that for your flight entertainment system not working during my six hour flight, but I guess it was worth it for this $15 credit.”

Social media users quickly began raking her over the coals for the post, which they deemed “petty” and “tone deaf” in light of her wealth and fame.

When Jet Blue responded to her original post complaining about the flight, Jessica replied with a screenshot of the messages she apparently exchanged with an airline representative after her flight.

She was told that all passengers who experienced a “TV outage” would receive the same $15 payout, but she insisted on a more generous refund.

“I understand, but I spent $1,500 on the flight and so did my husband,” Jessica wrote. “There should be some flight credit or something since I have a TrueBlue account and am a loyal customer.”

Then, on the business side, she faced an angry response to the “embarrassing” outburst, when some observers noted that many Americans had just seen their lives destroyed by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.

As the backlash mounted and one fan described her behavior as “incredibly funny and weird,” Jessica deleted the offending post.
