Andra Day smiles as she is carried across a puddle by a real gentleman so her dress doesn’t get wet in rainy New York after leaving the Albie Awards
Andra Day was seen laughing as she had to be carried across a puddle as she left the Albie Awards in New York on Thursday while returning to her hotel.
The R&B singer, 38, was a guest on the Clooney Foundation For Justice’s Second Annual Albie Awards at the New York Public Library in New York City.
The event, which honors people who have dedicated their lives to justice, is named after Judge Albie Sachs, a lawyer and former judge who was imprisoned for his fight to end apartheid in South Africa.
But the Rise Up singer had to be carried out of her luxury car when she arrived at the awards ceremony to avoid her long black dress getting wet as she made her way to the luxury Mark hotel.
The Grammy Award-winning star was seen smiling. A strong man lifted her with one arm and positioned her under an umbrella with his free hand.

Just hours earlier, the singer had caused a storm when she arrived at the awards ceremony, looking sultry as she donned a glittering black number, complete with sleek black heels.
The singer completed the overall look with a pair of black feather gloves, a matching set of glittering earrings and necklace, and clutched a diamond-encrusted bag.
At the event, Andra was greeted by Hollywood superstar George Clooney, who organized the charity evening with his wife Amal, a human rights lawyer.
The three stars then posed together, as Andra effortlessly slid next to Amal, who was dressed in a sparkling silver dress.
In the blink of an eye, George made a funny face as Andra and fellow singer Alicia Keys grinned on either side of him.
The Deliverance actress was then spotted sitting with soul superstar Mary J. Blige and supermodel Kate Moss as the three ladies beamed at their table.
