‘Ancient Vows’ quest walkthrough in Path of Exile 2
“Old vows‘ is a quest in Act 2 of Way of exile 2 in which you’re tasked with finding a mysterious relic, though you’re only given one vague clue: “Find a use for the relic.”
The quest ‘Ancient Vows’ sends you hunting through the Vastiri Plains of Act 2 in search of the missing half of the relic. The only problem is that the quest doesn’t tell you where to find it, how to get it, or even that it exists. Additionally, you need to find a place to put the relics. But on the plus side, you’ll receive a permanent buff if you complete the quest!

‘Ancient Vows’ mission steps in POE2
The ‘Old Vows’ fall neatly into four steps:
- Start the quest ‘Ancient Vows’ by looting the Kabala Clan Relic or the Sun Clan Relic.
- Collect the missing relic from the two.
- Return the relics to the altar in the Valley of the Titans.
- Choose one of the two improvements.

Relic locations of ‘Ancient Vows’ in POE2
There are two relics you need to complete the ‘Ancient Vows’ quest: the Kabala Clan and the Sun Clan. You’ve already found one to start the quest, so all you have to do is find the other one. Both relics can be found as a random drop from enemies, but they are found on two different maps.
The Kabala Clan Relic can be found in The bone pitswhile the Sun Clan Relic can be found in Ket.
How to use the ‘Ancient Vows’ relics in POE2

After picking up both the Kabala Clan Relic and the Sun Clan Relic, head to the Valley of the Titans waypoint. Next to the waypoint you will find a medallion that appears to match both relics. Place both relics in the medallion to complete the quest and receive an improvement of your choice.
If you find it difficult to place the relics in the medallion because they keep disappearing, go to the settings and go to the ‘Interface’ tab. Scroll down and enable the ‘Always Highlight’ setting to keep the medallion on your screen while you drag the relics from your inventory.
Please note that this setting will highlight items on the ground in front of you, so your screen can get a bit cluttered if you leave it enabled!
Which Ancient Vows buff should you choose

After successfully placing the relics in the medallion, you must choose between two improvements:
- 30% increase in charm cost gained
- 15% more mana recovery from flasks
These improvements can work in any class, but their value will change depending on your build. For example, if you find yourself often running out of mana, mana recovery is better suited for you. The higher charm cost could work for those who can consistently take a specific type of damage. For example, Infernalists can convert cold and lightning damage taken into fire damage taken, so the charm charges and a ruby charm might work well.
Generally, you take the buff that best suits your build, and if you ever want to change it, you can teleport back to the Valley of the Titans waypoint and switch buffs at no cost.
