An Alabama man sentenced this week after being found guilty of paying his brother to kill his ex-wife was told to fuck off by his estranged children.

Jason Starr and his brother Darin were sentenced to life in prison on January 5 after being found guilty of the 2017 murder of 38-year-old mother of four Sara Starr.

Jason must also pay a $25,000 fine. There is no parole in the federal court system.

At the time of the sentencing, one of his daughters said: 'F*** you, I hope you rot', while another called him a coward and a loser.

According to WTVYthe children had been informed of their mother's death at school.

Sara Starr, a 38-year-old mother of two twins and beloved fourth-grade teacher, was shot in the driveway of her home in Enterprise, Alabama on November 27, 2017.

Officials concluded that Jason did not want to pay Sara the money the court awarded her in their divorce settlement: $1,050 per month in child support and $1,500 in alimony.

Four months after the court order, Jason sent approximately $2,600 to Darin, reportedly gave his brother a motorcycle and requested that his ex-wife be killed.

Acting United States Attorney Ross said after the sentencing, “This first-degree murder has devastated the victim's family and the surrounding community.

“Jason and Darin Starr deserve to spend the rest of their lives separated from society because of the terrible crime they committed.”

Officials say Darin shot and killed the beloved teacher in her driveway as she left for work in November 2017.

Experts testified that she died from two direct shots fired as she left her home in Alabama.

After the divorce, Sara was forced to live in the parsonage of her church and struggled to make ends meet. She also always feared what Jason would do to her

In September 2023, a federal jury convicted Jason Starr and Darin Starr of committing their murder-for-hire scheme.

Court records also revealed that the couple had a tumultuous relationship.

After the divorce, Sara was forced to live in the parsonage of her church and struggled to make ends meet. She also always feared what Jason would do to her.

According to the victim's mother, Rhonda Whisler, she needed a reliable vehicle to transport the four children and get to work.

The brothers' lawyers plan to appeal the decision within a few weeks.
