Amy Schumer’s Kinda Pregnant trailer divides fans as she wears fake baby bump in Netflix comedy
The trailer for Amy Schumer’s new romantic comedy Kinda Pregnant has left fans sharply divided, sparking heated reactions since its release on Tuesday.
In the Netflix clip, Schumer is introduced as Lainy, a Brooklyn-based English teacher who, with a hint of jealousy over her best friend Kate’s (Jillian Bell) pregnancy, decides to fake a baby bump.
But things take an unexpected turn when she meets Josh (Will Forte), the man of her dreams, and her innocent lie turns into a much bigger mess.
In the clip, Lainy awkwardly confesses, “Do you ever tell such a big lie that you don’t know how to get out of it?” and later Josh exclaims, “You’re the least pregnant person I’ve ever dated.”
Despite combining two of the biggest names in comedy today, the trailer has left fans polarized.
Some are already calling it a disaster, with one critic bluntly saying, “The fact that you normally put some of the funniest moments in a trailer tells me everything I need to know about how bad this movie will be.”

Another commenter also didn’t hold back, asking, “Is this supposed to be funny or 100% cringe?”
Meanwhile, one particularly harsh review read, “Nobody asked for an Amy Schumer movie in 2025.” We will NOT watch those.”
However, it wasn’t all doom and gloom.
Some fans were cautiously optimistic, with one commenting, “This role seems like it’s right in Amy’s wheelhouse.” I’m not a big fan of hers, but I might watch this.”
Another said: ‘I really hated Amy Schumer in early 2010, but Trainwreck was hilarious. To be honest, I’m inclined to give this a chance.’
With such a mixed reception, it seems that Kinda Zwanger has the makings of a comedy that might split audiences in half.
The project will be directed by Tyler Spindel – who is known for his work on other films such as The Out-Laws (2023).
Amy not only stars in the film, but is also one of the producers – including Adam Sandler.

Shortly before she started filming, Amy broke her silence last February to criticize her ‘puffy and swollen’ face.
While celebrating the second season of her Hulu series, Life & Beth, she got candid about her appearance and revealed to fans and followers that she has struggled with endometriosis and autoimmune diseases.
After she stopped by The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon in February, a clip quickly went viral on social media, with doctors asking the audience, “What happened to Amy’s face?”
Schumer took to Instagram to respond to comments about her appearance, writing, “Thank you so much for everyone’s input on my face!”
‘I have enjoyed feedback and consultation about my appearance, as all women have for almost twenty years. And you’re right: it’s thicker than normal right now.’
She added: ‘I have endometriosis, an autoimmune disease that every woman should read about. There are some medical and hormonal things going on in my world right now, but I’m doing well.”
‘Historically, women’s bodies have hardly been medically examined compared to men. The book “All in her head” explains this well. I also believe that a woman does not need any excuse for her physical appearance and is not owed any explanation.”
‘But I wanted to take the opportunity to advocate for self-love and acceptance of the skin you’re in. Just like any other woman/person, some days I feel confident and good and other days I want to put a bag over my head. ‘

‘But I feel strong and beautiful and so proud of this TV show that I created. Wrote. Starring and directed. Maybe we can concentrate on that for a while.’
The actress concluded, “I had backup dancers on Fallon but my face is the headline hahaha anyway. I hope you enjoy life and Beth. Love and solidarity. Amy.’
Shortly afterwards, Amy discussed the critical comments further during an interview on the Not skinny but not fat podcast also last month.
“I think they’re angry that I’m not thinner, I think they’re angry that I’m not prettier, and I still feel like I have a right to speak,” she said.
“I guess they don’t want a woman to say anything – I mean, what woman has ever opened her mouth without being torn to shreds?”
“I could focus on that and it doesn’t feel good when the whole internet is mad at you. Don’t get me wrong: it doesn’t feel good and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone who doesn’t deserve it.’
However, she then revealed that she had Cushing’s syndrome and credited the speculation about her face with understanding that “something was wrong.”
According to Mayo Clinic, it occurs “when the body has too much of the hormone cortisol for an extended period of time.”

Some symptoms include “a fatty lump between the shoulders, a round face, and pink or purple stretch marks on the skin.”
The actress told her fans about the diagnosis in Jessica Yellin’s News Not Noise newsletter.
As for why she spoke out, Amy said, “The shame and criticism of our ever-changing bodies is something I have dealt with and witnessed for a long time.”
‘I so want women to love themselves and be ruthless as they fight for their own health in a system that usually doesn’t believe them…’
