Amy Schumer apologises for Nicole Kidman joke but manages to slam Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis… before deleting post after being accused of ‘cyberbullying’

Amy Schumer found herself in hot water this week when she made an Instagram post mocking Australian actor Nicole Kidman’s appearance.

The pair were separately attending the US Open on Saturday when Schumer, 42, shared a photo of the Big Little Lies star, 56, staring wide-eyed into the camera.

Kidman was caught in a tense moment as she watched the women’s singles final between American sensation Coco Gauff and world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.

Underneath the candid image, Schumer wrote, “This is how people sit,” sending her fans into a frenzy over the perceived slight.

Many fans appreciated the joke at Kidman’s expense, but others weren’t as impressed and used the comments to express their displeasure.

“Are you currently cyberbullying Oscar and Emmy winner Nicole Kidman?” wrote one follower.

‘This message seems beneath you. What point are you trying to make here?’ another commented.

“She’s probably uncomfortable because there’s a complete stranger recording her. That’s the look of annoyance and frustration leaking through the Botox,” said a third.

Another wrote: ‘Wow, so mean! I expected one of my favorite comediennes (sic) to have more respect for the feelings of others than this.”

After the backlash, Schumer apologized: “I want to apologize to all the people I hurt by posting a photo of Nicole Kidman and referencing the fact that she is an alien.”

“I’m going to ask the cast of That ’70s Show to write letters pleading for my forgiveness.” She added the hashtag “taking time to heal.”

Her comment referred to letters written by Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis about Danny Masterson after he was found guilty of raping two women in the early 2000s.

Things only got worse for the Trainwreck star when local Australian celebrities spoke out in Kidman’s defense.

Natalie Barr slammed Schumer for mocking the way Hollywood superstar Kidman sat at the US Open this weekend.

On Tuesday, Barr, 55, hit Schumer while discussing the reaction to Sunrise, saying the comedian shouldn’t make these kinds of jokes because “things have changed.”

‘It was quite intense. Things have changed since Amy started her prank career,” she said.

Meanwhile, radio host Kyle Sandilands also slammed Schumer’s post and ‘apology’ and accused her of being a ‘troll’ on KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O show.

Sandilands, 52, told his co-host Jackie “O” Henderson on Tuesday: “Amy Schumer is a troll. She makes a joke about a person being raped. This bitch has no idea.”

“I don’t know why she thinks she can be an asshole to everyone. I just don’t like her because she’s just a horrible person. She’s nothing.’

Sources close to Kidman revealed that the Moulin Rouge star paid no attention to the furore, telling DailyMail.com: ‘It’s a bit silly and she’s not upset.’

DailyMail.com has contacted Kidman’s representatives for comment.

Kidman looked glamorous at tennis this weekend as she donned a chic suit with pocket details and three buttons.

She finished her look with a tailored white jacket and cream loafers, and kept her accessories to a minimum with a simple wristwatch.

Australia’s darling wore her strawberry blonde locks in a low-maintenance side ponytail during the outing, and kept her makeup palette understated.

Following Gauff’s triumphant win, Kidman took to Instagram to congratulate the 19-year-old tennis player.

‘Congratulations, Coco! Thank you, US Open! Great Women’s Final 2023,” she wrote alongside the images she shared on Instagram.

Gauff made a brilliant comeback to claim the US Open, beating Sabalenka to emerge victorious 2-6 6-3 6-2.
