Amy Nuttall reportedly became suspicious of her husband Andrew Buchan after seeing cozy photos on social media of him and his co-star Leila Farzad.

The Downton Abbey star, 40, was reportedly left heartbroken after the Broadchurch actor dumped her for his co-star, after they met on the BBC series Better.

Now, sources claim that Amy became concerned that Andrew was cheating on her after social media showed that her husband and Leila seemed too close for comfort.

The star then confirmed her fears when she found out that Andrew had been staying at a hotel near her home, while claiming to be away working on site, and had bought daring lingerie in a size that wasn’t her own.

said a source Sun: ‘The penny began to fall over a period of time. She was away a lot, which wasn’t unusual given the nature of her job, but at one point Amy realized that she had been staying in hotels very close to home and wondered why.

“As time went on, there were some telltale signs that he had become close with Leila, just something in his manner and his social media posts.

“But the straw that broke the camel’s back was the lingerie, that’s what clinched it. Amy instinctively knew it wasn’t meant for her.

On Tuesday, Nuttall was photographed for the first time since news broke that her husband abandoned her and their two children.

The Downton Abbey star, who was so “crushed” by the end of her marriage that she has been crying almost every day, struggled to smile while running errands in Buckinghamshire.

Speaking to MailOnline about the split, Nuttall fought back tears, confessing: ‘I can’t talk about it. Sorry, I can’t say anything.

Sources close to Nuttall say she has been supported by her close friend Joanne Froggatt, who used to live near her and Buchan.

A friend said: ‘It’s broken Amy, it’s been terribly sad to see.

“She heard something was up and she knew she had to say something, so she confronted Andrew about it.” It must have been the hardest thing Amy has ever had to do.

Now she’s getting used to life without him and it’s really hard. Fortunately, she has some great friends around her who support her every step of the way.

“One is Joanne and just a few years ago she separated from her husband, but she got over it and came out on the other side.”

As well as starring in Downton Abbey, the women also appeared together in both series of the ITV drama Liar in 2017 and 2020.

Friends have told MailOnline the split has left the actress “crushed” as she tries to rebuild her life.

One said: ‘It’s been very difficult for Amy. She has been crying practically every day since it happened and she is struggling to cope. She can’t even bring herself to talk about it, as she’s still trying to make sense of it all.

Another friend added: ‘Amy and the kids have been hit hard by this, as you can imagine. They are all crushed. One minute they were living an idyllic family life in a beautiful house and the next, Andrew walks out on them.

“I’ve seen Amy a couple of times and when I do, she starts crying. She has been crying a lot and is still grieving the end of the marriage.

A close family friend told MailOnline: ‘Amy and the whole family are devastated by what has happened.
