Amy Dowden reveals her happiness as she shows off her hair growth and gives a health update amid her breast cancer battle
Amy Dowden gave a health update on Instagram on Sunday when she revealed her hair started growing back after losing it during chemotherapy.
The 33-year-old Strictly Come Dancing professional was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2023 and underwent a mastectomy before doctors discovered she was also suffering from another form of cancer and needed further treatment.
The dancer said she feels “lucky” with her hair growth as she reflects on the difference from when she received treatment.
As she sat in her car beaming for the selfie, Amy gave a thumbs up to the camera and said: ‘It’s been a while so I thought I’d show you my hair growth.
‘It makes me happy to see the difference and look back. It’s coming.’

She also revealed that she was at the hospital on Sunday for an MRI, and she hoped the scan would be her last “for a while.”
The dancer announced in an Instagram post shared in May 2023 that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a mastectomy in July.
Since then, Amy has been regularly sharing health updates on Instagram. During her chemo treatment, she at one point suffered from sepsis and a blood clot in her lung.
She also broke her foot towards the end of the year and her chemotherapy and the injury meant Amy had to sit out most of the 2023 series of Strictly and not work with any celebrity.
She did appear a number of times during the series, including an emotional moment in the final group dance.
It comes after Amy flew to Grenada on holiday with her husband Ben’, marking her journey since being diagnosed with cancer in 2023.
Amy, who tied the knot with Ben in 2022, discovered a lump in her breast the day before she flew to the Maldives for a belated honeymoon in April 2023.
Amy admitted she felt ‘bitter’ seeing other people’s 2023 highlights between her breasts on New Year’s Eve cancer conflict.

Amy burst into tears last year when she had to shave her head
She appeared on Lorraine as she opened up about how she felt entering 2024 and her “jealousy” at seeing posts.
Speaking about Lorraine in an update in early January, she candidly said: ‘After New Year’s Eve, when you wake up and see everyone’s messages, I was actually quite bitter.
‘My life changed the day I was diagnosed, but cancer changes you forever, it has changed me as a person.
‘I’ve lost a breast and my hair, I’ve had sepsis, I’ve been in shock, blood clots, I’ve broken my foot. I saw everyone making these beautiful windmills and, to be honest, I was quite jealous.”
