Amy Dowden beams as she leaves the Strictly Come Dancing studios after making a surprise appearance amid her treatment for breast cancer

Amy Dowden was beaming as she returned to her hotel on Saturday night after returning to Strictly.

The professional dancer, 33, appeared on Strictly Come Dancing to support her colleagues, where she confirmed she is halfway through chemotherapy for breast cancer.

Amy wore a casual ensemble as she left the studio and wore a dark denim midi dress with a pair of white trainers and a burgundy handbag.

She added a gold metallic headscarf after recently deciding to take control of her cancer journey and shave her head during chemotherapy.

Saturday night was Amy’s first TV appearance since shaving her head and her first live appearance on this year’s Strictly.

Amy sparkled in the night in a sparkling white dress with elegant long sleeves covered in sequins.

Joined by the contestants and host Claudia Winkleman, the audience cheered Amy’s name as she told them she missed everyone and was looking forward to her return.

Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer in May and is currently unable to compete with her celebrity partner due to her health.

She showed her support ahead of film week with an Instagram comeback from 2019 where she posed in her tiger make-up from a samba performance with dance partner Karim Zeroual.

She captioned the clip: “Love film week on Strictly! Who’s excited?’

Besides Amy, other dancers and contestants returned to the hotel looking exhausted after the live show.

Dancer Diane Buswell grabbed a snack when she returned after wowing with her performance with Bobby Brazier.

Professional dancer Karen Howers, who is partnered with host Eddie Cuddy, smiled for the cameras as she wore leggings with a cozy brown sweater.

Adam Thomas, famous for his roles in Emmerdale and Waterloo Road, rolled his suitcase into the hotel after he and Luba Mushtook performed a jive dance dressed as Mario and Luigi.

Actress Ellie Leech also changed into a cozy set of bike shorts and a gray oversized jumper.

Amy’s appearance on Saturday night’s show followed the revelation that she would cry herself to sleep at night as she watched her hair fall out on her pillow in her battle with cancer.

The TV favorite revealed why she decided to shave her head as she told the Mirror: ‘One morning I woke up with a lot of it on my pillow, then I brushed it and a lot of it came out.

“I was traumatized, I cried, I would only brush my hair once a day, but I would be afraid of that brush.” My husband would brush it for me so I wouldn’t see.

“Then it started going from above.” Ben would hear me cry most nights and come over to comfort me. It upset him too. He hated being brushed.

“I would be afraid to wake up in the morning, to see what is on the pillow.” It would be in your mouth, leaving a mark, it was so disturbing. So I saved myself the heartache and took control.’

Fans of the show shared their thoughts on X, formerly known as Twitter, with one person admitting they shed a tear at her triumphant return.

They posted: “I just burst into tears when Amy Dowden appeared on my screen. Let’s keep fighting!’

Another added: “Amy Dowden’s decision not to wear a wig on #Strictly tonight just showed every little girl going through chemo that bald is beautiful.” What a role model.’

‘Hands up who loves Amy Dowden? And hands up who cried when she read the Terms and Conditions,” wrote a third viewer.

Someone else shared: “Absolutely lovely to see the beautiful Amy Dowden tonight. What a splendid young lady.’
