A 26-year-old man has been hospitalized after part of his finger was discovered on a car’s windshield.

NSW police were called to an apartment on Ventura Avenue in Narwee, South Sydney, at about 3.30am on Wednesday after reports that a man’s finger had been amputated.

However, police claim that the man fled through the balcony of the apartment while officers were talking to a resident.

A crime scene was established in Narwee’s apartment, but the man could not be found.

Police received another call at 7:30 a.m. after part of a human finger was found on the windshield of a parked car in Riverwood, just over a mile west of the first property.

Officers reportedly found blood on the door of a nearby unit and forced entry around 11 a.m.

Inside, they discovered the 26-year-old man missing a finger.

The man was taken to hospital and released for questioning by police.

It is unknown who amputated the man’s finger and why.
