Amit Shah will introduce three amended bills on criminal law in Lok Sabha

As Parliament convenes on Friday for day 12 of the ongoing winter session, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will place for consideration and approval the three amended criminal laws, which will replace the IPC, CrPc and Indian Evidence Act.

The Bharatiya Nyaya (Second) Sanhita, 2023, The Bharatiya Sakshya (Second) Bill, 2023; and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha (second) Sanhita, 2023, were introduced in Lok Sabha by the Home Minister earlier this week.

The three bills introduced in the Lok Sabha on the last day of the monsoon session of Parliament, which seek to revamp the criminal justice system, have been withdrawn by the government.

According to the agenda released by Lok Sabha, Union Home Minister Nityanand Rai will move the next motion.

“That this House suspends the reservation to regulate 66 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha in its application to the motions for consideration and adoption of the Bharatiya Nyaya (Second) Sanhita, 2023, The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha (Second) Sanhita, 2023 and the Bharatiya Sakshya (Second) Bill, 2023, to the extent that they are interdependent,” the agenda said.

Union Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will submit The Post Office Bill, 2023 to the Lok Sabha for consideration and approval.

Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will also make a statement on government affairs during the remainder of the 14th session of the 17th Lok Sabha.
