America’s worst mayor Tiffany Henyard is booed out of meeting by furious residents – before launching legal war against them
Unpopular Illinois Mayor Dolton was booed at a town meeting and then denounced the other officials for organizing it without her.
America’s so-called “worst mayor” Tiffany Henyard arrived an hour late for Monday’s village board meeting and was met with outraged residents, they reported. WGN.
Despite the meeting’s location being moved to local park district facilities after Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s office found that Dolton had violated the state’s Open Meetings Act, Henyard attempted to hold a separate board meeting at Village Hall , thus WLS.
Finally, she headed to the park district building and announced that she was vetoing everything the board had already voted on.
“I just want to come out here and lay down the law as it relates to what’s happening in our town, where we are and where we’re going,” Henyard said.

Henyard arrived an hour late to the meeting which took place in the park building after trying to organize her own meeting in the village hall
Village officials voted to address Dolton’s deficit — estimated at $2.8 million this year — and approved steps to end several high-profile car leasing deals.
The next day, Henyard was charged again at a town hall meeting in Thornton Township NBC Chicago.
She told the audience, “I’m being sued all the time,” as the documents were handed to her.
And on Thursday, Henyard filed a lawsuit against several village trustees, the village clerk, the administrator and the Dolton Park District over the chaotic meeting, reported Fox 32.
Henyard claims she instructed Village Administrator Keith Freeman to ensure the meeting followed the attorney general’s guidelines, but Freeman declined to communicate.
The lawsuit alleges that the agenda for the Oct. 7 meeting was posted in the village hall on Oct. 4, and an agenda for the park district construction meeting appeared next to it.

The mayor said she canceled her meeting because not enough board members showed up and went to the park building to chair that meeting, but she was taunted by the crowd.
She accuses the trustees of exceeding their authority and seeks to invalidate all decisions taken during the meeting.
The lawsuit also asks the court to declare the village hall as the proper location for public meetings.
Henyard – dubbed “the worst mayor in America” – has been shrouded in controversy, including being evicted from her home for owing more than $3,300 in rent payments.
She also threw an $85,000 party for her city in September, even though the state denied her any expenses because she had put her city in debt.

The event cost approximately $50,000 in taxpayer money to cover performances and more than $35,000 in activities, equipment and staff.
In August, the Illinois State Comptroller cut off funding to Dolton after Henyard failed to provide financial reports for the use of approximately $135,000.
Susana Mendoza, the comptroller, threatened to fine the city $78,600 if Henyard did not turn over the reports.
The self-described “super mayor” has a history of absurd spending habits involving misuse of the city’s funding, leaving the town $5 million in debt. The Democrat was elected in 2021 and is Dolton’s first female mayor.
