America’s most exclusive burger: This NYC French restaurant only serves 12 per day – but what makes it worth the hype?

A trendy French eatery in New York City is serving an off-menu cheeseburger that’s getting rave reviews β€” for those lucky enough to get their hands on one.

Le Dive, a popular wine bar on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, introduced its ‘Dive Burger’ last month.

One food critic called it “New York City’s best burger.” But there’s a catch: the kitchen only produces twelve per day.

The ultra-exclusive item is served on an ‘if you know it, you know it’ basis. It cannot be ordered online as it is an off-menu fare.

Le Dive, a trendy French wine bar in New York City, has started offering a secret ‘Dive Burger’ – but only 12 lucky guests can enjoy it every day

The burger costs $26, but is considerably heartier than Le Dive’s other dishes, which tend to be small plates

And unlike some other New York City eateries that serve “secret burgers” upon request, Le Dive limits the number the kitchen prepares each day.

The burger consists of a 250 gram patty on a fluffy brioche bun, dressed with ingredients such as au poivre sauce, Emmental cheese and watercress in a Dijon shallot vinaigrette.

It comes with a side of thinly sliced fries and costs $26.

The burger has attracted a lot of attention online and received rave reviews from those lucky enough to taste it.

One food blogger noted that she ordered β€œas soon as she sat down,” fearing it would sell out.

Another content creator filmed herself trying “by far the most exclusive burger in New York City” and offered advice to those wanting to do the same.

β€œPro tip: They’re not serving them at the bar right now, so make sure you get a seat at the table,” she said.

She claimed the Dive Burger was so delicious she was “lost for words.”

The burger was announced in a promotional Instagram post on March 27, just five days before it was served. It must be ordered personally and by special request

Le Dive’s menu consists mainly of smaller dishes, which, in combination with the low selection, could explain the hefty price tag.

Other offerings include canned sardines, radishes and butter, and baguettes slathered with jam and fresh fruit.

However, there is equally pricey fare, including a $25 fried chicken, $34 steak fries, and a half-dozen raw oysters for $27. Bottles of wine start at $68 and can go up to $82 plus tax.

The Dive Burger was introduced in a March 27 Instagram update, five days before it was set to make its way to diners’ tables.

It’s just the latest secret burger to pop up in restaurants across the Big Apple.

The Brindle Room, a gastropub in the East Village, offers the ‘Sebastian’s Steakhouse Burger’ for those in the know.

Although it’s not offered on the dinner menu, the burger β€” which is topped with American cheese and caramelized onion and served on a toasted white bun β€” is one of the most popular items.

Secret burgers have even appeared at chain restaurants like Hillstone, the upscale eatery that closed its Midtown location last year.

The remaining Rose Hill location will serve a “Hickory Burger,” a grilled beef patty topped with shredded cheddar cheese, chopped onions, a slab of Canadian bacon and the namesake hickory barbecue sauce.
