America’s largest children’s hospital is offering transgender treatment to children despite promising to end the practice, according to a new report.
Documents for whistleblowers City Journal reports this on Tuesday reportedly show that Texas Children’s Hospital has continued to provide so-called “gender-affirming care” to young gender dysphoric patients, including the administration of implantable puberty blockers and hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
According to the documents, such procedures were performed earlier this year, with more future treatments planned for June.
The documents also include images of a slide presentation presented in January 2023 titled “Medical and Psychological Care of Gender-Diverse Youth,” in collaboration with Baylor College of Medicine, City Journal reports.
The online publication says the presentation urged doctors to begin sex reassignment treatments for minors before puberty and consider sex reassignment options later.

The documents appear to contradict the hospital’s announcement last March that it would stop prescribing gender-confirming hormone therapies.
At the time, the hospital said it made the decision “after reviewing the actions of the Attorney General and the Governor,” after Texas Governor Greg Abbott ordered the state’s Child Welfare Service to investigate reports of children being received gender-affirming care as ‘child abuse’. ‘ according to the Washington Post.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton also issued an advisory in February 2022 stating that his office considered certain transgender treatments for children to be “abusive.”
In a March 2022 statement, the hospital said, “The mission of Texas Children’s Hospital is to create a healthier future for all children, including transgender children, within the bounds of the law.
“This step was taken to protect our healthcare providers and affected families from potential legal consequences.”
This came with the resignation of Catherine Gordon – the hospital’s chief pediatrician and an advocate for “gender-affirming therapy” – according to a report from the Dallas News April 2022.
However, the City Journal report claims that the hospital “continued secretly to conduct medical interventions for transgender people,” citing the allegedly leaked documents.

The publication said it contacted the hospital via email and was told by spokeswoman Kelley Carville: “We have no comment.”
In a statement to DailyMail.com, a Texas Children’s Hospital spokesperson said, “At Texas Children’s Hospital, our mission is to provide quality care to all patients.
“During the policy debate on gender medicine, our healthcare professionals have and will always prioritize the care of our patients within the boundaries of the law.”
According to the documents shared by the outlet, a Texas hospital doctor performed transgender medical procedures on minors ages 12 to 17, with “visit types” listed as “gender dysphoria” and “gender identity.”
Another visit was noted for ‘HST [hormone replacement therapy].’
Another doctor has also been involved in transgender treatment for children, the documents suggest. These include the removal of a ‘non-biodegradable drug delivery implant'[s]’ for ‘gender dysphoria in pediatric patients[s]’.
Dates given in the documents against such treatments were in 2022 and 2023, after Texas Children’s Hospital said it would end such practices.
A procedure listed in the documents suggests that one appointment was with an 11-year-old “female-to-male transgender person” — three days after the hospital announced it would stop gender-affirming care.

The documents also describe a 19-year-old interested in breast removal surgery, otherwise known as “top surgery” (as stated in the documents).
The documents list a 15-year-old with “questions about surgery.”
The City Journal’s release of the documents comes as the Texas state legislature is considering a total ban on sex reassignment treatments for minors.
If the bill were passed, doctors who perform such treatments would risk having their medical licenses revoked.
