America’s 250th birthday logo is revealed: Patriotic red, white and blue ribbon design was tested on t-shirts, CAKES, and caps before it was signed off ahead of 2026 celebrations

A patriotic new logo has been unveiled that will be used to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States on July 4, 2026.

The semicentennial – which celebrates the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence – will be part of an effort to unite America around this monument.

The logo uses the number 250 with red, white and blue outlines in a ribbon font, next to the word 'America' in a classic black font.

Sagi Haviv, one of the designers of the new logo, said it was difficult to come up with the right symbol for the half-centenary as it had to be tested on everything from T-shirts and hats to cakes. He avoided using the five-syllable official word for the celebrations – which is a much bigger mouthful than the bicentenary of the 200th anniversary celebrated in 1976.

“It's almost an impossible structure,” Haviv said. 'I think that has an extra meaning, because bringing people together is almost an impossible task these days, but the result is beautiful.'

Hundreds of sketches were made by hand in an attempt to create the perfect design, which will be unveiled later this month at an anniversary of the Boston Tea Party.

The studio where he works – Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv – has worked for NBC, Mobil and New York University, and also designed the star emblem for America's bicentennial in 1976.

The U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, created by Congress to prepare for the nation's historic anniversary, hired them in March.

Chermayeff & Geismar & Haviv got the job in part because of their company's history with the bicentennial.

“It's a humbling moment because you come to it with your ideas and you love the things you've created,” Haviv told the newspaper. New York Times.

“And then someone will say, 'It looks like a body part you don't want to look like.'

Rosie Rios chairs the Semiquincentennial Commission and served as treasurer under President Obama.

She says they are not trying to worry about uniting the nation under one design.

“What we hope is that people can think about this as a way to see themselves, see their state, and see their story reflected in some way,” Rios said.

The planning was difficult, as Meta quit early as a sponsor while the original chairman was replaced due to claims of sexism and poor management of funds.

It comes at a time when the nation is more divided than ever, with former President Donald Trump making a number of second-term promises during a speech, including throwing a massive party to mark America's 250th birthday.

Throughout his presidency, Trump has floated the idea of North Korea-style military parades and was finally able to throw a big Fourth of July celebration in front of the Lincoln Memorial in 2019, complete with tanks and overpasses.

He noted how the U.S. would celebrate a major anniversary in 2026 and vowed to do so again, saying that to “restore pride in our history and confidence in our future,” he would issue a “huge yearlong salute to America to celebrate its 250th anniversary.” anniversary.'

'And we're going to make it a big party. And it will be a celebration that we really deserve in this country for everything we've been through,” Trump said.

“With you by my side, we will give our nation's founding the great anniversary celebration that America needs and so richly deserves,” the 2024 hopeful added.

In 2019, the then-president hosted a “Salute to America” in front of the Lincoln Memorial, a departure from typical Fourth of July celebrations.

Additionally, billionaire John Catsimatidis claims he is trying to get China to loan panda bears to New York City for the celebration.

Such a move could save the Big Apple “tens of millions of dollars,” he said

The Gristedes founder and radio host, 75, told DailyMail.com that the move also shows a “desire for peace in the world” between the United States and China, in a deal he called “peace through pandas.”
