American woman’s feet mysteriously turn alarming shade of purple while on vacation in Mexico: ‘We’re freaked’

An American woman on a beach vacation in Mexico unexpectedly suffered a health scare when her feet swelled and turned purple.

Karla Jiminez was vacationing with her sister Mariana Jiminez, 26, and some friends at the Majahuitas Beach Club in Puerto Vallarta in May when she noticed her feet turning from red to an alarming shade of purple.

The sisters initially thought she was simply sunburned and tried to continue their beach vacation that day. However, when Karla could no longer walk, they sought medical attention.

Mariana recalls: “We all panicked and then the emergency services came to help her.”

She praised her younger sister for remaining calm. A doctor later diagnosed her with an allergic reaction. She was given an injection and antibiotics.

After the terrifying ordeal, Karla gave an update, saying it was “an allergic reaction” and saying, “I’m doing fine now!”

It is unclear what caused the extreme reaction.

Mariana told Newsweek it could be has been everywhere, including ‘the sun, the chemicals in the water, something she ate’.

The TikTok video, posted on August 22, has been viewed nearly a million times.

The video shows Kayla sitting with her swollen and purple-tinged legs stretched out on a beach bench. She appeared to be in good spirits — and was seen laughing — despite how painful her feet looked.

The caption reads: ‘Her feet weren’t supposed to turn purple at the beach club.’

According to Mariana, the beach they were going to was on an island that was only accessible by boat.

She said they had only “booked one boat” but her sister needed “urgent transport.”

After the horrific ordeal, Mariana told the news outlet that her sister’s feet were “fine now.”

Despite the turn of events, Karla appeared to be an athletic type and was determined to have a good time with her friends during her vacation in Mexico, despite being on medication and unable to walk much.

She posted in a TikTok video her experiences when she could not use her feet because she was dependent on her friends.

In a clip, the young woman can be seen looking amused as she is carried by her friends, who can be seen laughing in the clip.

Video footage shows her being transported on her back several times.
