A confused American woman has been mocked online after admitting she can’t fathom the idea that Australia’s seasons happen at the opposite time of year to the US.

Jenna Lu shared a bizarre video on TikTok revealing that the way the seasons Down Under work “keeps her up at night.”

In Australia, summer occurs during Christmas, while winter lasts from June to August – the opposite of the Northern Hemisphere.

The video has been viewed nearly a million times, with many viewers freaked out by Ms. Lu’s admission that she couldn’t understand how winter happened during the American summer.

“I need someone from Australia to explain this to me as I don’t understand how this works,” Ms Lu said at the start of the meeting. video.

ā€œI recently learned in Australia that it is winter now. Right now it is August in America and it is winter for you.

ā€œFor me, I think of June, July, August as summer months.

“So I’m just confused because, first of all, do you still call it August and second, is August, if you call it that, a winter month for you?”

She said she was sure many other Americans were just as confused as she was.

Ms Lu was also baffled by the fact that Halloween took place in the spring and asked if Aussies would ‘wear spring flowers during the fall?’

“For us, we have pumpkins and apples in the fall because they’re in season, but they wouldn’t be in season for you in the spring, so you don’t have pumpkins for Halloween?” she asked.

She then asked about summer in Australia and how December holidays are marked differently.

Ms. Lu struggled to wrap the winter season in her mind as she tried to compare August, a winter month in Australia, to summer in the US.

“When you have Christmas, does all your marketing stuff have Santa Claus dressed in a bathing suit?” she said.

‘Do you still have traditional Christmas food that resembles winter? Like hot chocolate?

“Every time I think about this, my brain wants to die because it’s so confusing to me, because everything seems like it would go backwards for you.”

She then made a drawing in which she compared the seasons in the southern and northern hemispheres.

Countless TikTokkers took the opportunity to mock Ms. Lu, with many baffled by her confusion.

“This is definitely a skit,” said one user.

“I really hope she was just doing it for the views, I really hope so much,” wrote another.

“You would think, but unfortunately I saw an American ask me exactly this question,” one commented.

“Please give me strength,” said another.

Others asked why Mrs. Lu had not learned this in school.
