She recalled the “sweet” moment her friends offered to visit her in Northern Michigan — noting they could fly to Chicago and then take the “train” or “ferry” to see her — leaving Bateman stunned due to their lack of understanding when it came to that. to locations in the US.

She recently claimed that those who live in Britain have no idea how America works because they are so used to driving from country to country or taking the train.

“I really think a lot of people in Britain have no idea how big the US is or how disconnected we are as a country,” she said at the start of the clip.

She noted that she goes to college in Scotland but spends her summers in Michigan.

This year, some of her fellow students offered to visit her in the United States during the break.

She said, “Some of my friends were talking about visiting me this summer. They talk and say, “Oh, maybe we can fly to Chicago and then it would be easier for us to take the bus or the train to you?”

“Which was so sweet, first of all, and I was like, 'Oh, there's not really a bus or a train.'”

Then her friends asked if they could take a ferry instead.

“No, we're going to drive, you could fly, but I'm going to drive and it's going to be five hours before I come get you, but I'm going to drive,” she added.

But Bateman's shock didn't end there. She noted that she understood that her friends were unaware of how big America really is when they tried to plan a day out.

She added, “They said, 'Maybe we can go to New York City for a day.'”

Bateman started giggling as she was clearly in shock and added, “So sweet.”

She captioned the clip: “Extra points to any of them who guess it takes 24 hours to drive from the east coast to the west coast.”

One person said, “I can't even take a day trip to New York City and I live in New York.”

Someone else added: 'And they'll make fun of the Americans if they think two English towns two hours apart are close together.'

Another person commented: 'I heard a travel agent on here talking about encountering this all the time with Europeans. They really have no idea.”

“You can drive ten hours and still be in Texas when you started your drive in Texas,” someone else added.
