I’m from America and I can’t get past these wild culture shocks at Australian supermarkets: ‘Oh my lord’

An American traveler has caused a stir with her “hilarious” response to a Melbourne supermarket.

Tiffany Chen recently posted a video about the “shocking things” she encountered at Woolworths, including six different Tim Tim flavors, a lack of kangaroo meat in the deli and “strange” brands she’d never heard of.

β€œI’ve only seen one flavor of Tim Tam,” she said. ‘There’s such a variety of Vegemite – they, also have gluten-free and less salt!’

Tiffany was surprised when she went to the deli section and couldn’t find any kangaroo meat, but that wasn’t the most disturbing part of her trip to the supermarket.

Oh my lord, the eggs are not in a refrigerator!’ she exclaimed after discovering the egg trail. “They just put her on a shelf.”

Australian food and safety regulations require eggs not to be refrigerated because they are not pasteurized, unlike in America.

Eggs do not need to be refrigerated in New Zealand either.

A Woolworths employee also commented, revealing that not all stores sell kangaroo meat, but it is usually placed with the chicken.

Tiffany was also confused by the aisle of chips.

‘The Cheetos come in balls? What are Twisties? Smith? Cheezels? Is it like Cheez-Its and weasels?’ she asked.

She also claimed that the Australian packet of macaroni and cheese was the “first time she’s seen macaroni and cheese that she doesn’t want to eat.”

‘I’ve never seen these brands before [of toilet paper] in my life – except for Kleenex,” she said as she walked down the toiletries aisle.

The traveler was also shocked by the size of avocados and bananas, claiming they were “much bigger” than the fruit she had seen in California.

Many Australians did not appreciate Tiffany’s jabs.

β€œAt least the tax is included in the price,” said one.

“Six Tim Tam flavors will drive you crazy when you have aisles full of different cereals,” another added.

β€œYou know what, as an Aussie, I don’t understand… creamer. Why don’t you just use milk?’ a man asked.

β€œIt’s almost like a different country will have different brands and food,” one woman wrote. “It shouldn’t be shocking.”
